Does anyone know if any of the 5000 series cards will come out under the $100 price point?

Yes, the first quarter of 2010 ATI will be releasing the lower models of their 5000 series.

Well, that's good, since I can't buy another thing until 2010 anyway.:D

My HT Piggy is so seriously empty right now, it's not even funny.

I think amd is beating Nvidia with the new one's cards, but have you heard intel is planning to launch some good gpu's?

I'm still waiting for the entry level cards, but I don't think they will come out till sometime early next year.

I'm not buying until TMT3 comes out with a firmware that will allow bitstreaming of TrueHD & DTS-HD.:D

Recently I've had some issues with PowerDVD 9 playing back some movies like "The Unit" BD.

I've never had an issue playing back on TMT3.

I'm sure they are working on the patch, and it will be out very soon. Have you been to the arcsoft forums lately?

Does TMT3 act like a plug in for Media Center or do you have to run it seperately? Unlike a lot of folks, I kinda like Media Center. I don't want to have to run or open a lot of secondary programs to do run my setup.

Now that you can apparently bitstream the HD Audio, there doesn't seem to be any of the roadblocks to a comprehensive HTPC anymore.

Yes, you can run TMT and PowerDVD from media center.

Tmt3

Yeah, I did not see any firmware/patch available from TMT.

I did notice something though. When letting TMT3 decode DD or DD+, make sure you select RF Mod, instead of the other 3 (Line Out, Analog Dialnorm, Digital Dialnorm).

It seems like RF Mod is No Dynamic Range Compression, while the other 3 have some kind of Dynamic Range Compression.

Of course, we already talked about turning the TrueHD Dynamic Range Compression to OFF.

I still think the DTS-HD MA decoded by both TMT3 & PDVD9 sounded dynamically compressed and bitstreaming regular DTS sounded better in this case.

Yeah, pretty soon most people will be able to bitstream DTS-HD MA & TrueHD on PowerDVD 9 for only $50-$100 (Radeon 5xxx card).

But, still absolutely no words yet from TMT3 about bitstream DTS-HD MA & TrueHD on the Radeon 5xxx cards. And I don't think we will see anything for a while. They are probably in some kind of financial contract with Asus on the Xonar HDAV1.3 card.

I mean, why would anyone shell out $200-$250 for a Sound Card when they could just get a $50-$100 Radeon 5xxx card that can bitstream TrueHD & DTS-HD ?

And don't tell me the DACs in the Xonar HDAV1.3 is all that because I've owned it and listened to it plenty. And let me tell you --- it ain't all THAT.:D

No DACs from a $200 sound card can outperform the DACs in a $1,000+ receiver.:D

So looks like Radeon 5xxx card + PDVD = DTSHD + TrueHD = :D:D

and Asus Xonar card + TMT = DTSHD + TrueHD = :confused::confused:

I just wish there was an official release date set for the entry level ATI Radeon 5000 series cards so I know how long I have to wait to pick one up.

PowerDVD 9 Ultra

I have a 5750, PowerDVD 9.0 Ultra fully patched, and an Onkyo HD receiver. Bad news, there is currently no option to bit-stream Hi-def audio to external device, we are still waiting for a "patch" from cyberlink, see this forum post on Cyberlink's website:

This "patch" from cyberlink was supposed to be out a month ago. Also, with the latest patch, as noted in the link above, cyberlink has effectively broken regular DTS and DD 5.1 bitstreaming. Any luck with any of you guys on this?

Can you try MPC-HC as I am thinking about picking one of the new 5 series cards up but want to make sure it can at least downconvert HD audio for my workstation system. Thanks!
