What a releif when the Colts ran the ball on forth down instead of trying to kick a FG on that last drive....:p:D
Regards, Bill...:)

PS: I've always liked the Saints....:)
I still remember the first time I saw them beat the 49ers. I thought the world was coming to an end.

The season is long and stuff happens.

JaMarcus Russell = Ryan Leaf??

I'm not a fan of Peter King, but as a life-long Raider hater, and someone that still gets pissed over the Leaf debacle, I thought this was hilarious.

"I think, from the sound of the boos at Oakland on Sunday, the locals have had just about enough of JaMarcus Russell. His first three series: three-and-out, interception on a deep ball intended for Heyward-Bey, another interception on a deep ball intended for Heyward-Bey. That dug the Raiders a 10-0 hole they could never get out of, and Oakland had to throw mostly short stuff the rest of the day, fearful of Russell turning it over more. His 12 completions resulted in a measly 61 yards. I'm starting to think we're watching the second coming of Ryan Leaf."

It's the system he's in. Talent without coaching and a good agent is wasted.
Sadly he's had a bad agent and plays in Oakland.

He hasn't lived up to the number one pick so I would consider him a bust so far. I will cut him some slack though because he plays under such a dysfunctional franchise which starts in managment.

I would also consider Brady Quinn a bust. He was massively over hyped by the media but I think the scouts had a better idea about him since he dropped so much in the draft. Even so, he has not lived up to his first round draft status.

In both cases of Quinn and Russell, they've had new coaches and lousy teams. I still believe Quinn can play, but until Mangini is gone the Browns fan won't see it. Russell just doesn't have it to play at the pro level consistently. He has a great tutor on staff, but now in his third year his mechanics are worse.

Well I agree with you there, Mangini was a lousy hire. Quinn might not even start this week? I think both of these franchises are not a good atmosphere for a young QB.

Now a question for all you, if Dallas does not make the playoffs this year, do you consider Romo a bust? He is a QB that is hyped and has a lot of talent around him in all phases of the game except for a poor head coach.

Romo was an undrafted free agent, so I don't believe we can think of him in the same terms as Russell and Quinn, or other "draft busts" like Ryan Leaf, Tony Eason, Akili Smith, etc. I think you're already playing with house money anytime you find a QB that you can get for "free" (e.g. not waste a draft pick on) who can turn into an NFL starter.

When you check out Romo's stats from the past 3 years, he certainly doesn't look like a bust. I completely agree that he was over-hyped, and he's certainly not the second coming of Joe Montana, but I think he is definitely an above-average starter in the NFL. For a guy that wasn't drafted, I think that's a pretty good turnout.

People with a poor grasp of the situation would make comments that he's a bust. Anybody who's analyzed the facts knows Romo is a boon not a bust.

He's got a career 2/3 winning pct.

0-2 is a typical postseason start for most QBs unless they have a sick defense. Most young QBs struggle in december too. It takes time to manage those games. People expect too much too soon. Remember he's still learning the game. He's not a true veteran yet like Peyton or Brees.

Last year was a team meltdown not a Romo one. Everything fell apart with key injuries. No QB is good without blocking. Romo lost a key guard and Barber. Both are amazing pass blockers. So pressure was coming up the middle at the snap.

Dunno Mangini isn't that bad. The Browns franchise is that bad. Quinn also is in the wrong place, but that's life. :)

I see a quarterback that makes a lot of bad decisions, decisions he shouldn't be making with all his experience. He is nowhere in the elite status such as A LA Eli Manning which I thought wouldn't be as good as he is right now. I am totally blown away how he is playing. I did not watch the first game of Dallas which supposely Romo played well but the last two games I watched he looked very average out there, certainly not worth the contract they are paying him. Its still early in the season though, we will see how it all plays out. If they don't make the playoffs well....

You won't change my mind on Mangini and it really doesn't matter what team Quinn plays for. He will be a good 2nd stringer for his entire career.

Further analysis of Romo(comparison to eli)
Eli
YEAR G PCT YDS AVG TD LNG INT
2004 9 48.2 1043 5.3 6 52 9
2005 16 52.8 3762 6.8 24 78 17
2006 16 57.7 3244 6.2 24 55 18
2007 16 56.1 3336 6.3 23 60 20
2008 16 60.3 3238 6.8 21 48 10
2009 3 64.8 747 8.2 5 49 1
Career 76 56.2 15370 6.5 103 78 75

Romo
YEAR G PCT YDS AVG TD LNG INT
2006 16 65.3 2903 8.6 19 56 13
2007 16 64.4 4211 8.1 36 59 19
2008 13 61.3 3448 7.7 26 75 14
2009 3 57.3 735 8.3 4 80 3
Career 48 63.2 11297 8.1 85 80 49

A statistical comparison of the 2 indicates Romo has had a much better career.

Romo has a higher completion pct, More yards per game and a much better TD to INT ratio.

Eli lost both his first playoff games and he tanked at the end of his 2nd, 3rd years.

A 4000 yard passing season with 39 td's in a sophomore season has to be pretty rare. Especially in a balanced offense.

Now we will see what Romo does this season. He played great against Carolina IMO. He let the running game and defense win a game for him. He doesn't do that well so it's a good sign. He still had over 250 yards.

Is it Packers vs Vikings this week? :D
Last I checked, Vikings were 3.5 point favorites. I would expect that to increase before game time.

Should be a heck of a game. Hopefully the Packer defense can get it together this game, finally.

Hopefully Brent will reunite with his past few years and throw a few completions to the defense.

And hopefully the offensive line will pull their heads out of their arses!

I didn't even want to bring that part up.
If the Packers lose this game, IMO, the offensive line will be to blame.
