Sooo....

Are you recommending people go see it in the theaters or wait for it to come out on dvd/bd?

Jack
I would see it in Theaters. I see everything in theaters though, so you'd have to judge for yourself.

Folks, seen this film last nite. It seems like it has been an eternity since seeing a movie period. I must say the special effects were off the chart! Basically, the movie was documented very well almost to the point you believe it.:eek::eek: Thus, the story-line was excellent and seemed to flow quite smoothly. A little humor here and there did not hurt either. In fact, I thought it was a nice touch. All in all, I would have the give this movie a solid B+. Just wished the language was tamed a bit. Great movie!!!! ;):);)

Cheers,

Phil

I wasnt a huge fan of this movie. The only thing I really liked in this movie was the special effects and the premise. I really didnt like the ending since it leaves it wide open for a sequel. Also Im not a huge fan of the steadycam or whatever they call that filming style. I takes a few minutes to get used to all the motion on the screen.

Overall Id give it 2.5 out of 5.

Best movie of the summer IMO.

I've seen a lot of movies fall on their fact. This movie didn't. It's by no means a classic, but it's still a good movie to hit the theaters on. When chick flicks are in my top 5 list of good movies for the year it doesn't bode well for the box office. But I think there was a strike that caused this.

I love how they setup a sequel, but I see it standing on it's own.

The movie has some depth and real meaning to it. Having been to RSA(South Africa) It highlights some of the issues the country is still facing.

Plus the movie also made humans the bad guys. Which is the reality of life.

Finally got to see this one. I highly recommend it.
Okay, I heard about the "shaky camera work" similar to Cloverfield.

How bad is it?
I thought it was much less. By the end of Cloverfield I was a little rattled by the video, not at all by this one.

Great movie, very disturbing/uncomfortable with great use of special effects and CGI throughout.

It's indeed refreshing to see a movie with both action and lots of food for thought. It's probably the best movie I've seen in the genre since Children of Men, so if you thought that was worth seeing on the big screen then get out there and see it!

I didn't quite understand where all the alien weapons were coming from, but that minor plot hole certainly didn't ruin my enjoyment of the film.

District 9 and Children of Men? Interesting. I did love both. Both depict the reaction to a severe cultural shock in a very dark way. in D9, though, I really liked how, as the movie moved on, you might have changed your idea on who should survive. I thought the most haunting thing about D9 was how some of the important things that happen occur in the edges of your visual field. That gave the film a great sense of realism and unpredictability. This was my favorite sci-fi flick in quite a while.

Okay, I did not like this movie at all.

I did not care for any of the characters in this movie, and I definitely did not care for any of the aliens.

Very disappointed.

COM had the same thing going on in the peripherals too.

For D9, I really liked how the main character of Wikus developed from a sniveling jerk to a person capable of making a tough moral choice realistically.

This just in! Nigerian officials: 'District 9' not welcome here

" ABUJA, Nigeria — One of the summer's biggest blockbusters — a sci-fi morality tale about aliens and apartheid — is not welcome in Nigeria because of its portrayal of Nigerians as gangsters and cannibals, Nigeria's information minister said Saturday.

Information Minister Dora Akunyili has asked movie houses in the capital of Abuja to stop screening "District 9" because the South Africa-based sci-fi movie about aliens and discrimination makes Nigerians look bad."

Yeah, right... whatever... Take it up with South Africa.

It makes all humans look bad. I mean the South Africans are experimenting on the aliens. People get so sensitive.

That's why all the characters should be White & sexy, and the setting should be in USA (California, Texas, New York). Then no one will get sensitive and complain about racism or whatever.:D

By the way, I really did not like this movie at all - not for any political or ethical reasons or anything like that.

I just didn't like it because there were no sexy White babes (Morgan Fox) + fast and expensive cars & aircrafts.:D :D

Is that the only movies you watch and or like? ;):D:eek:
No, I love a great story + moral + character + setting + plot and all that.

But it doesn't hurt to add in the hot babes + cars.:D

Okay, don't kill for this, but I saw "Jane Austen Book Club" BD the other day with my wife, and it is a great movie.:D

D9 just did not do it for me. And I love Sci-Fi. That is my main genre.

Am I just getting too picky with age?:D
