That one review sucked though. It was just some opinions from people. Not a single shred of data to back anything up.
Peer reviews have good bearing. The 2030 are nice but lack any usable output below there 3db point. Data sure is nice but ill take some peer reviews along with it. I've pushed these speakers hard and have had several fail. ;)

I actually get great response down to about 50hrtz with this placement.

I will look through my suppliers and see what kind of deal I can get for you.

Not to be a voice in the wilderness of Behringer hurrahs, but here is another option for you to consider. We blind compared the Behringer to a number of bookshelf speakers (review already linked), and this one slightly outperformed it. http://store.audioholics.com/product/1175/0/yamaha-ns-6490-3-way-bookshelf-speakers--pair-

If you're not going to use a subwoofer with the speakers, the Yamaha will give you more depth and powerful presence. It's right on your budget, including shipping.

Happy hunting.
Talking about this article? The 2030P scored the highest. Most preferred sound was the 6490.

Though the 6490 has greater bass extension so would probably fair better without a sub; which is probably why it won most preferred sound.

My advice: Hunt.

My current computer setup was purchased over the past two months. I picked up a pair of PSB 400i speakers on E-Bay for $60 (had to do some equalization: they are rather colored, but very pleasant / room filling) and an Energy 8" sub for another $60 (for more space-filling, there's a 12" infinity at my local pawn shop around the same price).

So $120 and I have a pair set that I think will sound better than Sony's low-end will.

I also picked up a pair of Kef Q-series I might be willing to resell, I find them too bright.
