Michael Jackson deserves better than this.

"At the BET Awards, Joe Jackson seemed far less interested in his son’s legacy, the lingering questions surrounding his death and the children he left behind. Instead, he took the opportunity to try to market some new brand of pop-music smack on the world. It was a bad look."

I may have a bizarre sense of humor but at least I've got some sensitivity.

This is MJ's father, fercheezsake.

well Joe never really was that close with Michael...

Perhaps it could be a way for him to cope...just act like nothing is different?

I think you're right and that was brought up many, many years ago. JJ sucked everything he could out of his talented kids.

This guy should be in prison for what he did. The fact he's not is the real tragedy.

I'm still trying to understand why the
House of Representatives observed a moment of silence for him. I dont want disrespect the dead, but I'm not wanting our government to honor him in death either. They could honor so many more deserving Americans, especially the fallen ones in our current conflicts overseas.

BINGO! This guy is a first class loser. If he had let Michael have a normal life of a kid, he wouldn't have been as wierd as he turned out!

Many times personal tragedy and misfortunes have spurred strong artistic qualities. I think what Michael Jackson had done to him as child is reprehensable. That is what made him who he was and we likely wouldn't have had him or his music without it. It truly is a vicious circle.

As weird as MJ was, I feel for him. It seems like a lot of stars that grow in the limelight really never have a chance.

Just for the record, I always thought Dirty Diana was one bad Mo Fo song. I mean MJ was letting it loose and Steve Stevens was just banging on the guitar. What's not to like about that?

Fortunately our veterans get two much deserved entire days of honor every year instead of a one time only moment of silence.

I see many folks honor them on the 4th too which is good to see. Despite all his faults MJ did a lot of good things in his life too. It's easy to see the mess of people's life and miss the beauty of it. "We are the World" is one of the best songs ever made with all that talent being captured and coming together to help others.

A father who abused his children mentally and physically. Worked them beyond compare even at the age of 5. Did not allow them to have lives outside of being his puppets… and he doesn’t seem to be showing remorse, and instead is reaping the benefits of his son’s death? Surely not. No way.

;)

It doesn't surprise me that our H.O.R. would take a moment to honor a child molester.

Alleged. Keep in mind that the first accusation never made it to court, and he was found NOT GUILTY of the second accusation. Just because his behavior was outside of the norm DOES NOT mean that he was a child molester.

He was honored for being one of the most talented influential entertainers of our time.

His kind of talent has yet to be matched by any of todays "stars". And it won't be for sometime to come.

That poor man never had a chance to live a normal life thanks to his dirtbag father. I sincerly hope he is finding the peace now that he couldn't find when he was alive.

May he RIP.
