:D Thanks very much. Took me a few years to get to this point, but I'm very pleased with the sound. I have become some what spoiled by the sound. I was at a local Best buy yesterday looking at some of their interconnects (lousy selection BTW). They were playing one of their mid level systems at volume. Gawd did the bass sound like crap (bloated and very boomy). It made me realize just how good the subs sound (PB13 Ultras).

XPA-5 innards

Okay, I just HAD to open her up. Very impressed with what's inside. BTW, the caps seem to be quite large.

Hello Croseiv.

A head's up for you. The images are not visible. Currently, Photobucket is not cooperating. Maybe you can re-post the photos.

Regards.

I think most important thing is to have a clear strategy as to where you're going with the system and... sometimes you don't really go in big steps but remember to always go in the right direction and not buy things that move things in the wrong way.

I really think you go in a straight line and in right direction
If you know what I mean.......

I am getting closer to what I've imagined is a good system. So far, each step has given me better results than I had before.

Now I've been re-configuring the system to have SACD multichannel capability (again). The Philips player I have is a super SACD player. So far I only have a few SACDs, but I can say after spending some time listening to a couple of them yesterday (Alison Kraus and Union Station Live, and Mendelssohn's String Quintets) that I am realy pleased with the sound. Not to mention the on board bass management of the Philips DVD/CD/SACD player is great (much better than the Sony BDP-S550)!. I discovered that I can not only control the cross over and sub level, but also the slope of the crossover! I did not know I could do that until yesterday! This really impressed me about the Philips DVD963SA. I should say I have not listened to any SACDs for at least a couple of years, but thought it might be worthwhile to give a try yesterday. Boy am I glad I did! Just another step to use the system closer to its full potential. I plan to delve into the SACD thing a bit more now.

I'm glad that you're finding even more enjoyment from your system! Although, how that's possible, I don't know...Mr. Dual Ultras. :D

SACD is something that I'd like to get, but really only for Dire Straits: Brothers in Arms. (There is a DVD-A version, but it's out of print and costs a bundle.)

No question that SACD is good, but format is dead buried and gone, is there really anything more found to be bought on SACD.....

There's plenty out there to be purchased (Acoustic Sounds has many recordings). And I also think they are still making some recordings although it's definitely a small specialty niche. I dig the hybrid multichannel stuff I've heard so far.

Oh really, thats's good news, as long as there are titles......

I remember going to the largest record shop around here asking what they had in SACD, and guess what? They never even heard of it

Just picked up a new SACD (Hybrid multichannel) of jazz by Fourplay. You know it sounds good when your wife notices the new music. :)

Well duh most women like fourplay..............:D
Good-very good one there jamie2112...:D Honestly though, I was listening to the group (great Jazz artists), with the Philips SACD player. My wife commented on how good and full it sounded compared to other recordings. I told her it was a SACD we were listening to running through the analog multicahnnel outs. Sounds great really. We can tell a difference.

Just upgraded my speaker wire from 16 ga. to 12 ga. Now I know I'm not supposed to be able to hear a difference, but, if you'll excuse the psycho-acoustical bable, I swear the highs sound better...Anyways, here's a few more shots from behind the system...Bout to head out on vaction for a week, with no internet access where I'm going to be...hope I can make it...:D
