Reference level listening.
Hello Croseiv.
I was perusing the forum and came across your discovery of "craig's" review of the XPA-5. What caught my attention when I came across his review was that he was also considering the Sunfire Cinema Grand. I thought it was a well written review touching on some very basic, but often neglected points regarding amplification and the end product. As he described it, "The chain".
That being said, have you had the chance to take your system above -15dB with the new amp?
Yesterday, I had a chance to really crank it up, to -10dB. I couldn't go any higher, or should I say I didn't want to. Not that I didn't think the amp and/or speakers couldn't handle it, on the contrary, the higher I went, the better it sounded. Above -10dB became a little uncomfortable. I want to be able to hear when I'm 60!
So, my question to you now that you had the XPA-5 for a couple of weeks, have you had the chance to take it to reference level and if so, what how did the system respond?
Regards.
