I hope they can tie in the Sarah Conner Chronicle show to the movie and don't completely abandon that story line. Anyone see last weeks episode where Derek died? It was quite depressing.
No Gene I missed it last week. I do watch it every chance I get. Have come to really like the show. ;);)

Well theres plenty to say!!

First off imo, the terminator movies were just pretty decent action movies until the third one came out. It tied them all together so well and transformed them into an epic saga which I think has a story line of equal value to series such as starwars (well maybe not that high, but you get the point).

I didnt even know they were continuing these movies anymore, im excited to hear that they are!! Ill have to look into who wrote this one vs. the others... tho. Sometimes movies can be destroyed because of different writers and directors... (Indiana Jones, Resident Evil...)

Well yah I really loved the 3rd terminator so this is great news once again. Oh btw, I do not hope they tie in the tv series... Ive never seen it, but im really guessing its crap. Ive heard it was crappy, and it just sounds like a dumb idea anyways.

Ok, peace.
No, the tv series is quite good imho. Of course, I am a real Sci-Fi junkie too so that may be why I like it so much. Besides, the Terminator chick is a hottie which is always a plus in my book. :D:D Thanks for posting.

Will Arnold be making a cameo?

It can't be a Terminator movie without him, can it? LOL
Hey, you never know he just may. Have seen crazier things happen. As such, I would not be surprised to see that happen. :p;):p

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that Arnold was going to do a camio as himself aka "The Governator" in the new movie.

Looking forward to both movies here. :p
It looks like many of us are. At first, I was not so sure. However, it is obvious that is not the case. Thanks for posting.

No, you are not alone :D

But, I am not sure I can do the premier unless it is an early showing. Don't like crowded theaters especially when I have to go in the middle for nature's call;):D

First Review For "terminator Salvation" Rolls In

First review of Terminator Salvation rolls in

Martin Anderson

A few spoilers in this report on the first criticism of McG's Terminator franchise entry...

Published on May 7, 2009

AICN has what appears to be the first review of the completed Terminator Salvation. Sam Worthington is said to provide the best performance in the film whilst Christian Bale's performance is described (and in my opinion the trailer clips bear this out) as 'over the top'; Linda Hamilton's voice-over is present and correct and the reviewer - 'Gandalf The Grey' - mentions a 'cool' appearance by a (presumably semi-CGI) Arnold Schwarzennegar.

"As for the directing, I find that the action is well executed. However the smaller moments, in which we get to know our characters, isn’t all well done. I believe the best performance is by Sam. The guy playing Kyle Reese, doesn’t do a bad job either. In general the acting is good. I however felt Christian Bale's performance to be a little over the top at times. I must say he was propably also the one I had the highest expectations of, and so was the one that would have the biggest job of pulling this off. I cant say if it’s the way John Connor is written or acted, or maybe just the way it all was cut together, but Ive seen better from Bale."

Gandalf reports that "Action is the keyword for this movie", even perhaps to the point of overkill. "I found that it had a little too much action, so that our characters wasn’t told in a way that we could really bond with them. It lacked some more small moments of quiet interaction."

However, the reviewer praises the effects and the 'barren' post-nuclear world depicted, and notes that the Terminator franchise departs from its love affair with the night in Salvation:

"It contrasts nicely with the future we see in Terminator 2, where it is all night scenes. In this movie, there are not that many night scenes, and it just feels right, to show the world in this battleworn way, in full daylight."

Of Danny Elfman's score, Gandalf comments "usually am very fond of Danny Elfmans work, and thought [the score] at times was too loud and big for the movie. Sometimes less is more, and for me, that would have been preferable this time around."

It was my brother's birthday yesterday and he said that was what he wanted to do: see Terminator:Salvation. So, we saw it last night and I agree with most of what was said. The acting was so-so, with a few really dumb moments that unintentionally derailed the continuity of the movie. When they tried to add the human aspect rather than just the war aspect was where the movie completely fell on its face. I could see what they were trying to do, but it didn't work. Average acting is sort of what I expect from a summer blockbuster popcorn movie though, and to me that is exactly what this is. Fan service was paid as well :) I enjoyed it.

To me, the director was really trying to make sure he told his story in the exact context of the first two and I feel he achieved that goal. I felt it did an excellent job of integrating the first two movies and managed to maintain the overall story's connection between the past and present. The technologies are correct, the references to things from the past were correct, etc...

As for technical aspects: the editing was terrible. The cinematography was just OK and the CG was pretty good. The action sequences were all fairly well done and really carried the movie. I think this will be one of THE best new demo discs on Blu-ray when it comes out because the sound was absolutely kick ***. There were a TON of good LFE scenes and some well placed surround activity that actually had me looking UP not unlike Master & Commander when there are people running on the deck above in the cannon battle.

It isn't a perfect movie, but I can't fault it for what it was. Go see it for yourself :)

I too got to see this today. For the most part I really liked it. The audio effects were just flat out awesome. In fact, it was almost too loud.:eek: never thought I would say that, but indeed it is true. Lots of action going on throughout and the story-line was decent. As John mentioned up above, the connection between the past/future was spot on. Much better than I thought it would be. Over all, I would have to give film a solid B+. :):):)

Phil

I liked it much better than my local reviewer. I went with reasonable expectations (a movie without much subtlety and giant robots on the prowl) and was not disappointed. I was somewhat troubled by the fact that it takes place only a decade out; I can't figure how we're going to be so overwhealmed by technology in a few years, but I guess John Connor's age dictated that.
