Friends;
My bro rented this from Blockbuster and he claims the R rated version was blocked as were all the special features and menu items. He called Blockbuster and they claimed this is purposely done on rentals to force consumers to buy the copy. Can anyone verify this?
It seems as though Warner Bros. has lately been releasing a different disc for rental places, the disc itself says rental on it. It's very stripped down and only has the main movie and previews, no option to select diff. audio streams or subtitles, and no extras available. The rental version only contains the theatrical release, not the directors cut.
I was discussing this with my friend yesterday and I agree that the only logical reason for doing this is to get people to buy the movie if they want to see the extras, or a diff. version. But so far the only studio I have noticed this with is Warner, but I'm sure it won't be long before others follow.
I did actually buy the movie last night, but I'm giving it as a gift, and one of my other friends also purchased it, so I'll just borrow it from one of them to watch the directors cut, which is only 3 mins. longer on this film.
