Looks like he did a really nice job on the cabinets. You may want to consider him painting the pantry door in your kitchen to match... That would look really nice...

You can't put your panels back up? Are you allowed to at least use your bass trap pedestal? Maybe the acoustic panels that look like art? The house is looking nice Greg... Enjoy.

Well, this has been a fun afternoon. The install guy got here with our appliances and the microwave wouldn't fit. The only one that Jenn Air makes that would fit in our cabinet turned out to be a countertop MW with a trim kit. I was so freaking mad that I could have killed the guy I bought it from. I refused delivery of everything and made a little trip to the appliance store.

After a rather long amount of time, I walked out of there with all GE Profile appliances, 200 bucks below cost, with a promise from the owner that I could get anything from them at cost for lifetime.

And, yet, you can't put your acoustic panels back up. :p

BTW, I'm going to fly you out here when I buy a new car. It'll save me thousands, even counting first class airfare, a top-notch bottle of Scotch, and a first rate hotel.

Glad to hear that Greg, I didn't want to say before this, but Jen Air has a reliability problem. Sounds like things have worked out for the best.
We have GE Profile and are happy.
Looks very nice, enjoy it.

Don't be afraid to tell me stuff like that up front, I need to know.

After I got everything worked out. The salesman said he was happy we ended up with GE. He said the oven is the best on the market and a lot better than the Jenn Air. He did say that the Jenn Air probably made a better dishwasher but we would be more than happy with the GE. I got him to throw in a full 5 year waranty on everything. They service all their own stuff and if they have to do more than 2 calls on the same piece, they just replace the appliance. This company has been here for 37 years and the salesman I deal with has been there 26 years. He took good care of me even though I started out pretty mad yesterday. I will have a good bottle of liquor for the poor installer (he's been there 14 years) when he returns on Tuesday as he took the meatiest part of my explosion.

Nice input Alex :)

Your doors are white, are they not?

Having your cabinets stained a darker colour (I am a Canadian Citizen :)) sounds like a real trick to me. That has to be some sort of varnish with a pigment mixed in. Sounds tricky but I only have a passing familiarity with wood finishes. My best goes out to the guy doing that in your house. By "woodwork" I mean doors and trim. Personally I wouldn't hesitate to paint up the crown.

In your situation I would paint the frame on one acoustic panel to prove the point. Then paint all the frames on all the acoustic panels and further admire that 'look'. Then look up at that crown and make the decision the paint. I'm trying to gently coax you into an accepted convention.

I'd like to see a pic of the mantle. I saw that your cabinets are like a natural oak. Heaven help the guy who goes at that. I would be worried about a blotchy finish. You might be best served by buying a similar cabinet door and letting him provide you with a test piece.

Nice input Alex :)

I think I have to send Alex a check for being the interior decorator on this deal.

All you guys have been of great help.

Thanks for all the input.

Someone jump down a thread and help me drill my cabinets for the harware.

Thanks Gator.;)

It looks great, love the farm sinks. We ended up going with a SS to help tie back to the appliances.

Don't forget, you still owe pictures ofthe HT.

Hey, what are my choices on that valve thing going through the counter. The one I have is a cheap, plastic, fake chrome one.

Dawg,

Greg, that thing on your sink is called an air gap. You can get them in solid metal if you prefer. You should be able to find one that matches your faucet, if you want.

An air gap is used with a dishwasher. It's to prevent dirty water from siphoning back into the dishwasher (at least, that's what Google told me this morning when I looked to see what those things were called :)).
