I'm not one to be spending that kind of money on speakers. A warranty is only good if you plan on over driving them or out of the box issues. A $400 set of speakers should not have these issues. After reading the entire post, I was getting pissed off myself, being a hot headed guy, I would have taken the defensive side with your local dealer and tried to be honest with him but with a strong tone! It is your money you know! I would have lowered my standards to his level and ripped into him like a monkey on a cupcake. and say "WTF man? I come here trusting you, listening to you taking your advise on everything you have to say, and this is how you treat a loyal customer, by f-in me over?? What kind of place do you run here?? Its incredible how much you really don't know someone until you get a second opinion. continue saying, "I'm shocked at you! Guess what, you just lost a customer, and you just made it clear that you can't be trusted any longer. And you really did not care about me and my speakers, it was just about the all mighty dollar. You're pathetic!" And walk out!
If you really like those speakers buy them from the other dealer before he gets shut down. Verify that they are genuine (not a counterfeit). Make sure they have all the necessary paper work to prove this and then get them. I know you're upset, but why punish yourself? if you really want them. I know how it feels when you really want something, you save up for it, and then get crushed by this bull crap.
