Problem with Audioholic's e-store.

In defense of the OP, if the product was not in stock, there should have been some communication with the OP before charging the credit card when the order was processed. A little communication goes along way especially dealing over the internet. In defense of AH I bet they make it right for you in the end.

I didn't even place an order and want to say thanks for the generous offer to satisfy a customer.I think that offer would make almost any buyer happy:).I would like to add that my last purchase through your store was flawless.

This post is in response to post # 20 by the store admin.

I ordered the 465 on sunday march 1st, called that weds to get a tracking number. was told it would be in thrusday would ship friday. Called yesterday found out it never shipped because they didnt get it in. and it would be in on weds or thrusday. I canceled the order. my older receiver went out on me last week so i have no receiver at all and since the money is taken out of my account the day I ordered I can't go out and get a receiver until I know the moneys back in the account.. if the money can come out with the click of a button i think it should go back in with a click of a button as well..

Sorry to be a pain-in-the-A$$. I understand that it could be on back order, but when this does happen, I get an automated e-mail stating this. Since I already paid for this on my credit card, there is no need to do a refund, but rather I will take the free upgrade to the RX-V665 when it comes out in April some time. How will this work? Will my order stay open / updated with the newer receiver? Will you remember to fulfill my order in a month?

AH is offering you a free "upgraded receiver" that is in stock which they could ship out to you. Thats worth considering and great customer service resolution to your issue IMO.

agreed. I sent him a PM. I'm going to wait for the RX-V665. the 663 only has 2 HDMI inputs, I need at least 3, cable, DVD, Xbox 360.... I know the 663 upconverts as well, but my new TV is 120hz, and the 663 only does 60hz.. I spoke with the owner on Monday, and seemed like a real nice guy. My issue is that the credit card should not be charged until it has been picked and shipped, not before.

I think the AH store explained what happens and more than took care of you as I'm sure they will handle this situation.
Yes...I know.. I'm waiting for a reply from AH. Its just interesting that it is happening to other people here as well. Hundreds of people could be ordering from AH, and 100's will not get their order, but thier CC charged..

Regardless of audioholics helping me in my situation, does not change that fact that the ordering system they use is wrong. He needs to invest in a real-time system that reads the amount instock and reflects it on his e-commerce site. This way, situations like this will never happen again.

Thank you AH for helping me!

does sound like they could stand to make some changes to how operations are carried out on orders after they are placed to prevent this in the future.

FWIW,
It seems AH is one of the first retailers to actually have these out, of course they are going to sell through them very quickly. BB has the same issue, and they are the largest electronics retailer in the country, so a smaller, internet direct company is bound to run into this every once in a while.

Mike

PS, It is not "fraud" if something is back ordered and you are charged for it, most companies simply don't charge until it ships due to the large fees that are associated with returning purchases in just such a case.

I think some guys need to grow up, mistakes happen, credit cards get charged, stock sells out. What matters is how they handle it after the fact, and in this case it seems like Joeteck did not have enough conversation with AH to get a resolution, but instead took the fast way out and posted before they were given enough time to mend it.

I just ordered a product on 3/8 (Sunday) it was shipped on 3/10 free I might add (weighed 21 pounds) and will be here (3/4 of the way across the US) on 3/13.

Come on guys what more do you want? Or would you like us all to be like Walmart where we sacrafice employees (Chineese in sweatshops making $4 a day) paying minimum wage to US employees, threatining if you go home without finishing the work that you will be fired and not paying you for any overtime, etc just to save a buck?

Mistakes happen, try not to put material things above people, AH is just trying to make a living. They also pay for this website, post reviews of products, and provide a service to us all. So support them and not the Walmarts of the world that could care less if you die going out the door

It has nothing to do about growing up my friend! Seems you need a lesson in ethics! Newegg.com which is alot smaller than best buy, does not allow you to make a purchase on items not in stock, therefore not charging your credit card for something that may come in in a week or two. If you still don't understand, maybe I'll explain it another way so you'll understand.

Lets say, you're selling a hot item such as the RX-V565, you are the only e-store that has it listed on your site. But you don't have any in stock. About 200 people order this receiver from this e-store. 200 people get charged $429.99. This e-store just had a sudden income of $85,998, but with no product in hand. Could be a month before you see your product! Now this e-store is making money on everyone's money for the month its sitting in their accounts, and still no product to ship out! Now how is this morally and ethically correct? How can anyone sit there and say I need to grow up? You have no idea how much you have offended me. You are not suppose to charge a credit card until it ships, simple as that. Back order, still means no product in hand and you should still not get charged until the item is back in stock. This is not fair for the buyer, which is everyone in this forum and in the country. I can't believe no one else see's it this way......

I see it that way and understand your frustration. Maybe though, you should have exhausted conversation with them and then posted the situation and resolution.

Newegg is a unique example, although certainly one that should be looked at as a success that should be copied. Although I've never heard of someone being able to buy something from Newegg that's not in stock I'm sure it has happened but in that case it is likely a computer glitch considering the automation of their system.

Another place that I believe uses a similarly up-to-date system for linking inventory to their web site is B&H, however they also have to keep tabs of what is sold in store and they do so by using an unusual in-store model. It works for them, and makes their website very reliable as well.

Both of these places are significantly bigger than Audioholics although I think that should mean their work to keep that level of reliability is even harder.

As far as your order is concerned, we can offer you a few options for the inconvenience that this delay has created: 1. a free upgrade to the RX-V663 (in stock) or RX-V665 (not yet released, ETA is currently early April). 2. a refund in the meantime, and charge your card when the RX-V565 you ordered is ready to ship, along with a free YDS-11SL iPod dock. 3. a full refund if you would rather cancel the order.
i don't know about you ... but if i were in that position, i can't decide between the 663 and 665! :D

lol... well, thats an easy decision. 663 has only 2 HDMI inputs, the 665 has 4.

I disagree, I have ordered stuff from newegg, been charged and then found out later that it was back ordered, that their system was off on stock count or some crap like that. It happens, even on BB's website, in-stock isn't always accurate, especially about what is in stock at the stores. Unfortunately the computer systems are not perfect, probably because they have humans actually doing the counting on them. Stuff happens, but if I threw a fit every time I ordered something and it came out it was back-ordered, I would no longer have anywhere to shop.
