Thanks guys... Strangely enough, I just kind of fell into those duties as I jumped on their forums in the opening weeks and was a huge fan of the PC website which I had used extensively before buying my first (and still current) projector to replace my CRT.

I'm not a techno junkie as you may find with some AVS Forum guys who replace projectors every year and try 10 different screens a year. But, I like the practical side and more general comprehension of it all.

While my personal projector kind of sucks (I've been waiting for 1080p, and now that it's here, I'm probably going to move this year instead of buy a new projector), I do have the opportunity to see many new projectors a year with my own company and I make an effort to go through local stores and play with their projectors a bit.

Most of all, I just try to read reviews and stay up to date - which is a lot more than most newcomers can do with projectors. So, they get some initial bad information, or make some assumptions which just turn out to be incorrect, and then I try to help.

Hard to help whe someone can't afford another $500. I get it - simple as that. You either got the cash or you don't, and $1,300 compared to $800 is pretty significant no matter how you slice it.

EDIT: Oh, and about a year ago I asked them to change my name from BMXTRIX to AV_Integrated here, but got shot down. Seems they don't want to setup a precidence for changing users names.

I just wanted to add something. If this is for business. Then I wonder if you should really go with light portable business PJ.

Usually HT projectors are very poor in presentation settings. Unless you happen to have a high lumen one.

PJs are a lot of work and require good technical skills to setup and run correctly. So if you lack those then I don't suggest the investment.

If this is for business. I think an XVGA one might be a better fit. You can always use them for movies. I use one. While it won't be the best, it still fairly nice. But business before pleasure IMO.

I find myself in the same boat; always in the reviews, reading up, venturing out to play with the latest toys. I still dont get how some upgrade so often. Though I have to admit, I did talk to JM about the new JVCs out. I think I'm going to see what they do this yr and make a move on next years release. I'm a JVC fan and as long as they keep moving forward as they have, one can't go wrong.

Bringing myself to the edge...

I think I'm going to push for the BenQ. I just want to know if there is anything at all (used or whatever) that is even close to the BenQ? I just received my new (massive) vinyl white screen today by the way!:cool: I'm thinking of putting up a shower curtain pole around the screen with a curtain for a theater-like look and to keep my room from looking like a full-time theater.:D The Boss is objecting to the bulk of the projector though. I'm thinking of getting it and flipping it on the market to maybe get an Epson 1080 UB or similar projector. Know anybody who's trying to sell their Epson for cheap? If the BenQ doesn't work like I thought, I'll just try to flip it like I said and get a similar projector that is smaller and more portable. I don't want to sacrifice image quality and build quality for portability though. Any other suggestions if I decide to go that route?

As said, numerous times now, there is nothing on the market, at all, to this point, that touches that BenQ. It started at $3,000 and is less than half that. The cheapest 1080p models, are $1,500(ish) and aren't in the same league for quality.

The better 720p models are good, but still half the resolution and about 80% or more the price.

If the boss objects, then you hang it up high from the ceiling towards the back of the room if you can, and make it as discrete as possible. Many people come over to our home and never even realize we have a projector hanging from the ceiling... and ours is in a dark grey case!
