Happy Thanksgiving from Canada

This is one of those recipes you either love or hate, considering onions are the dominate theme. I am one of those people that love it, it is one of my favorite side dishes especially next to some stuffing and turkey:). Here is a pic of some I made today (for tommorow). Pumpkin pies are in the oven as we speak:).

Mmmm, looks good! It has more liquid than I had imagined, but it does look tasty. Not planned at all, but I happen to have some ground turkey in the fridge that I intend to cook up tomorrow. Just good timing, I suppose.

Thanks, Minus!!! That was a lot of typing. I sure appreciate the recipe. A big
from me. :)
No No Adam not for Minus. He types like 5000000000000000000000000 words a minute! :D:D I mean, he hardly has to put out any effort whatsoever. ;);) No really, I agree that was a lot of typing. Thanks Minus, but you are making me hungry. :p:p

I also wanted to say thanks to Brian for mentioning this holiday. I wasn't aware Canada celebrated a Thanksgiving day. Hope you don't eat too much though Brian!:eek:

Cheers,

Phil

Minus - man, oh man, that sounds good! The creamed onions has me intrigued
I thought this was like a set up to some punch line of a rather low brow joke.

Lets just let this thread be about happy thanks giving.....:D

Peace,
Tommy
Yes, please!

Thanks, Tommy. You said it better than I was going to.
Sorry guys. Happy Thanksgiving to all my fellow Canadians.:)
I can just picture the three of you guys roasting marshmallows an singing Kumbaya. :D

For the record Dave had me. I should know better than to get into it with a guy who was a speech writer in real school. ;) Smoking a ton of hash didn't lend itself to an enhanced education in my case but it made me more peaceful and that's something to be thankful for.

Happy Thanksgiving :)

"Okay, it's your turn, Adam. What are you thankful for?"

"Well, I'm thankful for my AH buddies. What a great crowd. Oh, and beer. Yeah, definitely beer."

It seems like a lot of sauce because it is. I like a little sauce to run on the plate instead of the sauce just adhering to the onions. It is just a preference thing, cutting back on the amount of sauce is no big deal. Just a quick tip if you make this a day ahead make the sauce a little thinner because it will thicken up quite a bit over night.

BTW here are the pumpkin pies :).

If you'll note, the Red River Rebellion was a French/English conflict and the only person that died was executed by the Metis revolutionaries. The government of Canada negotiated a settlement that gave the revolutionaries most of what they wanted. Riel himself couldn't leave well enough alone and led the North-West Rebellion 15 years later, for which he was convicted of treason and executed. There's little to no native involvement in either conflict.

Canada may have a somewhat shameful record in native affairs but mostly due to broken treaties and the implementation of a reserve structure similar to that in the States. But I am not aware of any Canadian military action against natives like what happened in the States.
I found out at a family reunion that I'm related to Louis Riel. Could ya tell? :D

A few things:
1. That pie looks delicious, as did everything else. I ate a whole pizza today, probably in part because of all these pictures! :)
2. I'm very happy that the pooch will be fine, and sorry that she (and you) had to spend the day at the vet.
3. Even with three hours spent at the vet, you still managed to be infinitely more productive today than I was. :D
4. I really need to work out NOW, because that medicinal image is starting to get me thirrrrsty.

My sister was very upset today. She noticed at first that her dog was trying to throw up but couldn't, but on second glance she noticed her dog's tongue about 2-4 times the size it should be. This was not good because she noticed her dog always bites at bees and other things that are flying in the air. She was afraid that her throat could close up becaue it was obvious that her throat was inflammed as well. It was noticable that she was basically chocking on her tongue:eek: From my sisters state of mind and emotion I knew she was not capable of driving (30-40mins away), so I drove them down there. They injected her with something and waited an hour and half to see if the it would go down and if she was capable of swallowing food etc etc and then they released her and she seems fine now:).

I can empathize with how scary that drive must have been for your sister. 30 to 40 minutes, the whole time thinking that her friend could die at any point. Must have been terrifying. She's probably on top of the world tonight.

It was not fun, I was trying to be calm but my sister on the other hand:eek:. The dog was in obvious discomfort on the drive up there and was drooling all over the place and at one point the dog had her head on my lap while I was driving and was drooling everywhere. When she got to the exam room she puked all over the floor before the doctor saw her:eek: (that was the only time I was in the exam room and offered to clean it up but one of the staff members did). I tried to stay away as much as possible and let doctor do their job. I kept myself occupied by just listening to the banter between the doctors and the receptionist in the waiting room:). On the ride home she was very, very, very, very manic, I am sure she still is.

Minus, there is one thing I have learned about the great people that hang out on this forum-that being many of us sure seem to know how to cook. Either that, or we are just a bunch of hungry people. ;);) I admit, I can cook but I can also eat so I am torn my friend.:eek: Then, you keep posting those pics and I am hungry yet again.:eek: No really, perhaps one day many of us can get together and have a cook-off and forget about audio for a bit.........yeah right like we could actually do that......LOL!!!!!! :p:p

Cheers,

Phil
