I don't see the 3900 offering anything more than the 3800. I got the 3800 about a week ago at a really good price and I wouldn't even consider the Z7. I only use the AVR as a pre/pro and to power zone 2.
resist the 3808 temptation by looking at those links

Just messing with u, the 3800 is an awesome unit, especially if you got a good deal. I almost put one in my home, then decided to wait for the new models.

The 3900 does actually have a number of new features over the 3800, but none of them tremendous or necessarily important to everyone.

Yep, I was already to get the 1900 and walked out the door with the 3800 for 1200 bucks. I didn't see anything on the 3900 that I had to have.

So did you call you dealer to see about the software?

I think that is a real pain.

I found the software for the 2700 and the manager manual if you want it.

I think this might work because I doubt they changed the protocols. Do you have a laptop with a RS232 (serial) port and a cable?

Edit: I just found the 3800 software. I will upload it and add a link in a few minutes.

Well heck, I am not very knowledge on computers and I am not certain what a RS232 (serial) port and a cable is but I have a nice and new computer so I probably have one.

Actually a newer computer may not have a serial port.

Ok what do you have for a computer and I'll let you know what you need. Once you get the correct cable and software installed it is farily easy. Especially now that you can move the credenza with your pinky.:)

I am but my VP is in town and wants to ride with me today. It will still be an easy day as I have him figured out. He is one of these guys who cannot miss a meal or he almost dies. I run hard and tell him there is noway I have time to stop for lunch. Around 1:30 or 2:00 he is spent and says he has to take off and get on a conf. call. So in all, he will be with me for 2 or 3 hours.:D

Dang, I guess I will be on here for 30 more minutes. I forgot to put my undershirts in the dryer!
I thought you were done for the month.:p

I highly doubt your new PC has a serial port on it, but you can get a USB to serial adapter for that. But if you do have a PC with a serial port on it, you will need a null modem cable to connect the PC and receiver together. I have the receiver manager software for the RX-V1800, but haven't used it for anything so far since I don't really need it right now.

I might just take it to the dealer.

You are correct sir.:)

Here is a cable from Tiger direct

Better yet while you are out go by Circuit city

That looks like the same cable I used when my computer was hooked up to my LCD.

And yes...I already ran off my VP!
Excellent on the VP!

I'm guessing that you were running a VGA video cable, not a serial cable.
