Weird 12v trigger issue

Ok, I about have the 3800 figured out and set up to satisfaction.

One weird thing is my 12v trigger. When I turn on zone 2 (bedroom) it turns on my external amp although this amp is not used for zone 2. I never had this issue with my 659. What is going on here?

I mean isn't there an option in the menus for zone controls and what powers each zone? Have you tried connecting your amp to the other trigger output to see if it still happens?

A little off topic but is it okay to connect an amp to the 12v trigger on an AVR? Seems like it would be a little too much.

Yes, there are option on using an ext. amp. vs. the internal. I have it set to use the internal amps for zone 2 yet it turns on my ext. amp. I have not tried the 12v. #2 but I can.

If your amp has a 12v. trigger it's fine, that's what it's for. It is just a signal that tells you amp to turn on.

Greg,

What GR is getting at is that the 3800 has assignable triggers. Check the manual for that.

I haven't seen that so far but then again, I haven't read the manual. I am pretty "hands on" and have become aquainted with the AVR but yet to see anything on the 12v. trigger.

Greg, I searched the manual for the word "trigger". I didn't see any mention of how to do it. They did have a note that the triggers are for custom installation and to contact your dealer for details. So, the manual might not be of any use in setting that up.

I'm a dealer and if I'm not mistaken they can only be setup w/ their software which is no longer availble to the public. By default the triggers turn on and off whenever any zone is turned on/off. The custom software allows assigning by zone, source or a variety of other scenarios.

I guess but I will probably have to unhook all this crap and take it in.
"Greeeggggg. Oh, Greeeeggggg."

[That's the 3808 calling your name.]

Seriously, though, can't your dealer hook you up with that?

By leavng it there?

Has anyone used the Network option? Can I just hooked this up directly to my multi-port modem and play music from WMP or does it require more add ons?
Well, as long as you're taking it in, why not fix that volume display problem once and for all. :D
