Yep, the Yammies used to display a bigger display when you adjust the volume
That's how the 3808 works (still) so go get one and pretend it is a 3800 and we still consider you a big Yamaha fan.

Using a Denon, but thinking about a Yamaha all the while. Mentally cheating on a receiver...that's taking being an audioholic to a whole new level. Some would claim it was a pathetic level, but I'm not making any judgements. :D

I can actually envision Greg doing that... :p

I am pretty certain you just called me pathetic.

I am not getting a Denon, it took me half my life to figure out everything the Yamahas will do.

No, I'm saying that some might call you that, but I wouldn't. I'd never do that, my friend. Compared to me, you are the epitome of cool. Then again, so is Screech from Saved by the Bell.

Just to clarify, you are above Screech on the coolness ladder...

HaHaHa:D:D

Looks like I've been missing the fun thread of the night.

I may have to add that to my sig.

Poor Greg between Andrew and Adam you taken some hits tonight.;)

All this over alcohol induced macular degeneration.

Greg,
You will actually get used to the volume thing. The wife, well your problem:D.
I have found that the volume level is so dependent on the source that the volume display level becomes an almost non-issue.

That being said I would hope that Yamaha would learn from all the complaints over the display size that they will go back to the display format that existed on their older models. I was somewhat surprised they didn't learn quickly enough to make the change before releasing the x900 models.

I figure I'll be keeping my 1800 for another 3 years or so. The volume display is enough of an annoyance to turn me to another company if the issue is not resolved by then.

And for the record; you are cooler than Screech.:p

So here's the normal display with tiny numbers:

And here's what I finally managed to get instead:

or this,

or this,

It's posted over on avsforum, but right now we're trying to establish which models it actually works on (I have the 1800, people with the 2700 aren't having any luck so far).

FYI, I can't see any pictures. Might just be me, but I wanted to let you know.

I can see them, but there might be a problem because the URLs for the images are actually for attachments posted on another forum (I'm not sure how many posts are needed before I can add attachments here).

What can I say, I'm awesome .
Yes you are. My gun is reloaded but apparently I have to spread some reputation around before giving you your proper due for that milk-through-the-nose-spraying post back on page one.

Dave, try this: remove the Thanks that you gave Andrew on that post, then try to give him rep. It just might work. You can then add the Thanks back to his post after giving him rep.

Thanks count towards the "you need to spread some around" stuff, and you just gave that Thanks to him yesterday.

EDIT: Hmmm, looks like you might have already tried that, because your Thanks is showing up for today. Sorry if I'm just giving you info that you already know.

It's funny, but I tried to spread some around and everybody I tried to give it to gave me the spread it around message until I finally hit one that said I gave out too much in the last 24hrs. Danged if I'm not reloaded after all.

Yeah, I use to try to spread it around using the scales, but that just drains the reservoir too quick - I generally don't have enough to give to the person that I wanted to in the first place. You can also spread it around using Thanks. Those are just three points a pop, and it's easier to hit a few people and still have enough left to scale the original "target".

You Ninja must have some awesome rep power when using the scales. One day, I shall be Ninja as well and use that power for the forces of good.

I can't see the posted pictures of the volume fix.

It seems like this tiny volume display is bothering you a lot.

I know change can be scary, but I think you owe it to yourself to explore a little.

How is the volume display on the Denon receivers?:D

What if you could get the Denon 4308CI for only $1,400?:D

No, I just need to get used to it. Once I get my dedicated room, I wont be able to see it anyway.
