I liked this one. Ben Stiller was Ben Stiller, posing with his biceps, but the standout was Downey. I kept thinking of a synthesis of Apocalypse Now and The Three Amigos, both of which I liked. Because I usually make a point of not reading much about a movie until I see it, I didn't know that Tom Cruise was in it until his final scene, when some mannerism tipped me off...I was thinking...is that Tom Cruse under the bald head and body hair? I guess he was revealing something true about himself.

I too was surprised that Tom Cruise was in the movie. It took me a bit before I figured it out though. His dance skills really could use some help.......LOL!!! ;);)

I saw this on Friday and I thought it was actually not too bad. It isn't hilarious - it was pretty much what I was expecting, but I wasn't disappointed. Cruise and Downey pretty much made the movie :) We also caught the end of Disaster movie cuz we had some time before our movie (and they don't keep an eye on the last theater), and as expected also, it was complete crap.

Thanks John for sharing. I agree in that Downey and Cruise really made the movie. I do hope Cruise works on his dancing skills though.......LOL!!!! :p:p

LOL. I can't claim to dance any better, as sad as that is, because he was pretty bad. It was all in fun though, and it definitely was funny. IMO, the movie wasn't that good, but those scenes that were truly funny made it worth while.

I saw this this weekend and it was great. Downey steals the show totally in my opinion. Good laughs......
Thanks Phil....

One of the funniest things was the trailers, because I could actually hear people in the audience saying "Was that for real?". The Downey one cracked me up.

Yeah John, it was very funny. I can't help but wonder if Cruises dance skills are really that bad. I suspect it was all part of the show. Either way, it was very funny. :p:p

I agree Jamie. Downey was the reason I went to see it. Did not even know Cruise was in it let alone Matthew McConahey (sorry if I misspelled it). Glad you liked it Jamie.

Yeah, Downey is really coming into his own so to speak. Given how things were going for him a few years back while maintaining his focus and totally turning things around for the better. Kudos to him. You have to respect a man that does that imho. Looking forward to seeing him in the near future.

Cheers,

Phil

Why not I always say. However, I just watched Babylon AD Sunday and thought it was very good. You may want to see that one too Jamie. If you do, be sure to let us know what you thought.

The director of Babylon blasted his own movie, saying it was nothing like what he intended to make because the studio got far too involved and made so many changes.

Hmmmm...........did not know that John. I still thought it was a decent movie. Sure was much better than Mirrors imho. There looks to be some good releases coming up real soon.

Ouch-did not think it was that bad. :p:p Like many these days, it has some great moments, but is flanked by some cheezy ones too.:rolleyes: Personally, I would have to give it a 6 or 7. This is mainly due to Downey's performance. Thus, I have gotten to where I like him.

Cheers,

Phil

Saw TT at the drive-in in the summer and thought it was okay, there aren't to many black humor military comedies. So picked it up on BD when it came out. Okay I really bought it for the Booty Sweat T shirt it came with, for the girlfriend.

Phil, my friend bought me this as a gift. Looks like we are watching it tonight. Seeing how my expectations are pretty muted by this thread, I'm hoping to be very pleasantly surprised. :D
