Transformers Blu-ray

My friend who is into movie torrents said that the Transformers BD is out with the TrueHD track and the mp4 file is a whooping 40GB. This is without any menus or extras so it looks like the BD release will use the entire space of a BD50. From the looks of it this is going to be an amazing transfer.

According to pretty much every review site this is the Blu-ray Disc of the year so far, and quite possibly the best looking Blu-ray to date.

It's definitely been re-optimized for Blu.

Wow the TrueHD track apparently utterly destroys the DD+ track on the HD DVD. I am so glad I decided to wait for the BD version. Looks like this movie will be a sub torture test for you guys with awesome subs.

I have not seen this one, as a former Transformer fan, it just looked terrible. I will most likely pick up the BD though. $25 at Frys

You haven't seen the movie, yet?! I was in the same boat in that I was skeptical about how good it would be, seeing as how I was also a fan of the cartoon series. However, I thought that the movie was amazing. I highly recommend that you check it out!

All this talk about this Blu-Ray is getting my upgraditis to act up. Darn it.

But bluray.com just says 3rd quarter 2008. so I guess we don't really know for sure. But they would be stupid not to have it out before Christmas.

That's all I meant, it doesn't have a confirmed date. It HAS to be done already, since the 6 min trailer on the Batman Begins BD looks absolutely stunning - it looked better than in the theater I wouldn't be surprised to see a limited re-release to theaters come Christmas time also.

The video on the HD version was also Mpeg4. True, it didn't have the TrueHD audio tracks, but this one test may show it doesn't really matter

DD+ goes up to 3.0 Mbps on Blu-ray and 6.0 Mbps on HD DVD, even though we've never seen one encoded above 1.5 Mbps to date.

The shocker came when we compared the lower 448 kbps Dolby Digital DVD bitrate to the original. There was an audible difference, but it was only ever-so-slightly noticeable

If that lower rate DD was barely different, I guess it doesn't matter a whole lot what rate the DD+ and the original were as most likely both were much higher.
