Hey all,
Was just wondering if anyone could point me to a good review of these speakers. I have been listening to them a lot lately and I really like the sound of them and they pass the most important test, WAF. I've found a couple reviews but I wouldn't call either of them in-depth or even very useful. I'd even take reviews from some of you guys if you liked to share your experiences with them. Thanks as always in advance.

Thanks for the replies folks. Just a quick question since I have never heard the Mythos ST's, other than the bass end of everything, do the perform pretty similarly to the none sub versions? I'm not a huge bass head, I mean I'm usually pretty happy with the bass I get out of my Klipsch B-3's, so I know that the Mythos One will definitely perform to what I'm looking for. I'm just curious how different these two models are back to back. Thanks again for the help.

The name "Orb Audio" gets tossed around alot when people are talking about quality sub+sat configurations with style.

Sub+sat configuration? The Mythos Ones are 4ft. tall :D I'm looking more for a 3.1 than anything else

I can't imagine why anyone would buy Mythos towers and not use a subwoofer with them, hence they are satellite speakers.

I'm with you now. Using a subwoofer, yes, on a regular basis, no. My awesome apartment life prohibits me from using my sub on a regular basis, so I really want to see how well they will handle without one. This way I can be happy with them during the 90% of the time that my neighbor downstairs is home. Man, I can't wait to get a house  Thanks for the candor

Mike

PS, the reason why I'm considering the Mythos Ones and not the ST's or STSes is because BB carries the Ones and not the Supertowers.

The sound with the sub would be so much better at all volumes ;). Also if your looking for good sound out of a small footprint w/ your employee discount, why not check out the VAs?

I would love to, except we are having A LOT of trouble getting them (i.e. probably discontinuing carrying them :( ) I absolutely loved the Mozart Grands we had, but alas we had to sell our demos because we couldn't get them any more. Maybe we'll get more of them back and I'll be able to consider those again, but for now the Ones are what I'm saving up for. There isn't a huge difference in price for me between the two, only about $500. But it will come down to whether or not we keep the line in our inventories til I can afford them. I'm also just now starting to seriously look since it will be somewhere just after the new year (and holiday gifts) that I will be going shopping.

Yeah, I think the Mythos One will sound extremely similar to the Mythos STS & ST in terms of the Mid & High Frequencies.

But you know you can change the volume of the built-in subwoofers anytime you want. So when you want less bass, you can turn it way down. And when you wan't more bass, you can turn it up.

And you could also use the Mythos One + dedicated Subwoofer (s).

The Mythos Ones are really, really nice sounding speakers. Unfortunately, the attractive design adds at least as much cost as the sound. Equal performance can be had for half the price (in a boring, rectangular cabinet.)

Why not just check out some BP7006 towers? I just got some to upgrade my old BP8s and they sound amazing.

It might be that Vienna Acoustics wasn't able to produce enough for Best Buy to sell.

I heard some Vienna Acoustics speakers at Tweeter one time, I think they were the best sounding speakers I had ever heard at the time. I have no clue what model they were, but I fell in love with them.

Yeah, I'm a huge fan of the VA's. We'll see if it is just a supply/demand issue or what. They really are my favorite speakers I have heard up to this point in my life as well. Good news though, in theory we will start carrying the ST and STS models (still tentative) so if that is the case I'd definitely just go for those and forgo the new sub til I move into a house. The reason I'm not considering the BP series is not for lack of love, I really like their sound, it's 100% WAF. My wife would rather I spend a little extra and get something that looks awesome, and as long as the performance is there I'm ok with that. Thanks for the replies so far, keep it coming if you don't mind, I am definitely someone who thinks through every purchase to a painful level so the more info I have, the better I will feel when I do purchase.

Are VAs the ones with the transparent woofer cones? If so, I heard a pair in North Carolina a few years back. I was impressed with the sound (and thought they looked way cool) but have never seen a pair since then.

Yeah, clear woofer cones and furniture grade cabinets. They are very good looking and sounding speakers. If only I could afford the Beethoven Grands /drool
