Those are hot... how much are they?
The Beethoven Grands go for $5600-$6000 a pair depending on finish. The rosewood finish is the more expensive of their selection but worth every penny in my opinion.

So, Magnolia is now officially carrying the DefTech Mythos STS's. Why does my budget keep getting bigger and bigger every time I turn around? I started only wanting to spend $500 for a pair of fronts  I am going to have to give these some serious thought now and of course many hours of listening.

I have had the opposite experience, with an increasing appreciation of affordable equipment. In particular, I prefer the $220/pr speakers I have now to the $1500/pr speakers I used to own!

I started only wanting to spend $1,000 for an entire 5.1 system!:D

And I never thought in a million years that I would ever spend - I mean waste - $2K on a blu-ray player either.:D

You are in seriously danger of going to the Dark Side, young Jedi!:D

Mythos ST vs. STS

Alright, Now MHT is going to be carrying both the ST and STS models. On employee discount there is only about a $500 discount. For the price of these I really don't think I'm considering any other speakers seriously now. They are probably at the top of what the wife will let me spend and still get away with it. What I'm really curious about, since we do not have our demo units of either of these yet, is whether there is that big of a difference between the two models, I mean $500 is $500. Anyone out there heard or demo'd both of them and saw any gaping differences. Both models won high praise and accolades when they came out so I don't think I'm going to go wrong with either one. Thanks as always in advance for any feedback.

Why not wait until Def Tech accomodation comes around? It happens once a year and discount is pretty substantial (around 60% off every speaker). I am guessing you work in the MHT department?

I did until about 2 weeks ago, I'm in the new Musical Instruments department now, so accommodations won't include me since my job classification changed. My MHT sup will still let me use my discount there, though, and it's not going to be a huge difference anyways, only $200 or so from my estimates.

Damn that sucks. You could have scored big time with accomodation pricing. Right now it's Sony accomodation month with 60% off any Sony TV and $100 more off if you take this online training thing.

I'm with you now. Using a subwoofer, yes, on a regular basis, no. My awesome apartment life prohibits me from using my sub on a regular basis, so I really want to see how well they will handle without one. This way I can be happy with them during the 90% of the time that my neighbor downstairs is home. Man, I can't wait to get a house  Thanks for the candor

Mike

PS, the reason why I'm considering the Mythos Ones and not the ST's or STSes is because BB carries the Ones and not the Supertowers.
BB Magnolia now carries the Mythos STS. I got mine last week at 30% off of their retail price (they price matched a local family owned store). I'm using them as a 2 channel setup in my main living area, and they sound terrific.
