Picked up the PB10 from Sonic Boom audio today. Holy hell! This literally DESTROYS the 20-39 PC-Plus I initially got. I think the Cylinder was busted or something because it didn't feel very powerful and the tactile effects were almost non-existent.

But the PB10! WOW! Just watched SW Episode 2. The Queen's ship entry at the begining sent so many levels of vibrations through my nutsack that my kids will probably be born with concussions. And it was so cool to hear Yoda's lightsaber sounding different than Dooku's. Very cool, never noticed that.

No music test yet. For HT, I couldn't ask for more. It simply is phenominal. I asked a lot of people whether I should've gone with the PB10 or the PB12. I can't see the need for the PB12 in my setup as I think the PB10 is perfect for me.

Tomorrow I compare it to my Velodyne DPS12 and see how it stacks up.
Thanks for all the help guys, especially MikeC, Mazzer, BillyP, Adam, and whoever else I forgot. Looks like I finally found my sub after a year of search and 5 subs later.

Congrats!!! I'm so glad that you finally got one that's really doing the job right. Great pictures, too! Thanks for those.

Now THAT has got to be one of the funniest things that I've read in a long time. Well done. :D

You know what's the best part out of all of this? I bet in your first thread, that subwoofer was one of the first suggestions.

Oh, you're welcome.

Yea, it was but I keep getting the runaround that the 10" might not be enough, like my Energy S10.3. So I went through several 12s, one 15, and even a PC plus. The PC plus is what threw me off the most because even after spending $1000+ on a sub, it sounded like crap - too bloaty. The PB10 is frikken FLAT.... I've done nothing to it, no eq and it sounds right. Just pushed my Velo out of the way and plugged it in.

Later today I'm going to put it through its paces with some Trance and Rock music.

Congrats on the new sub, but there is no way whatsoever that the PB10 should destroy a 20-39PC+, something must have been wrong with the old sub.

Absolutely. Or it was not set up correctly. Congrats on the new PB10-NSD. Did you put the PB10 in the same spot as the other SVS or did you change spots?

Exact same place. Right beside the couch. See?

Absolutely no contest! The PB10 sounded head and shoulders about the 20-39 PC+. I wonder if the ports being up had something to do it messing with my room, because no matter what I did the Cylinder sounded bloaty. When I could tame the spikes by EQing, it would lose output to the point where I had to crank it up 3/4 up to get any tactile effects and even still, it wasn't to my liking. It was accurate as hell through for Music.

It's possible there was nothing wrong with the sub just that for nearfield, the Box just destroys the cylinder.

I'm glad you are enjoying it! It sounds from your posts that it is really performing well. I'm off to go watch the Star Wars scene and see if I can get that lower groin effect you described earlier....

i'm thinking it was caused by the port orientation/location in the room.

i guess having the port that high up contributed to having some sort of null or something.

It is great to see those pics and hear how much you love that sub. Mine is arriving next week and will be placed in a nearly identical position next to my couch. Enjoy the new toy.

I'm glad you posted those pics so I could get an idea of just how big it is. I was considering getting one to replace my Dayton 12" sub, but that thing is just too deep to go where I need it. I guess I'll be looking into one of the 10" HSU models when the time comes.

Holy cow I haven't turned my gain passed 1/3 and WOW! How hot are you running your sub? After calibration I have it running about 3dbs above my mains which are set at +1.5dbs. I watched Ivan Almighty tonight with the kids and the LFE was awesome. My little guy asked me when the dam exploded if all that rumble was coming from the new sub:D.

Heres a picture of my set up, kinda like yours:D

I've place my printer on there, might as well make use of that space.

Very nice setup Billy! You still have the better amp. hehe.

My receiver's Sub output is at -5 so it's not really all that hot, but yes, I do run my sub a little hotter than most.

Nice sub, glad you are enjoying it!

I run mine about 3db hot for movies and "even" for music.

Something must have been wrong with the Plus, because the plus should literally have twice the output of the PB-10. Congrats on the purchase :)

I would have to agree. I have 2 20-39's(NSD's) and I feel like drywall is going to crack when I turn it up! God I love SVS.
