I'd have to agree that you got a funny sub or it interacted weird with your room. I just got a 20-39 PC+ today and decided to watch Titan AE to try it out. It was amazing every time a ship passed by and especially when the Earth blew up.

But the important thing is you have a sub that works for you, like you seem to have found in the PB10. Congrats on your sub.

I think you were right in assuming something wrong with the 20-39+.
The PB-10 and PB-12 are fantastic and come in such small boxes which is nice.
But the 20-39+ should actually outperform the PB-10...I think.

Doesn't matter now as I'm sure you are still loving you PB-10.
SVS does right by its' customers.
