Dont do that to your room. Go the classy route.

Hmm? Properly cut painted (an outdoor somethingorother that wouldn't eat the foam was recommended to me) I think they would look quite appropriate. If I go with something like RPG products skyline-style diffusors, I'm looking at something like $400 for every 2' panel. I've recently blown my budget for the year so I'm looking at options :D

Very nice looking finish on those panels on your photobucket site BTW. Did you do that or do they come that way?

There are many solutions for dampening your room. The blue stuff looks really bad. I would look around a bit more.....

I have combo of DIY, GIK Elites and Ready Acoustics. They all look good and work the same. You can build panel yourself for ~25 bucks each.

I'm looking for diffusion and not absorption. I agree the blue looks bad and I asked around for how to paint it. That blue on my red walls would be hideous!

I've seen similar designs with wood, like here http://www.pmerecords.com/Diffusor.cfm Starting with good wood and a nice stain +lacquer finish, they could really look super, but would be harder (for me) to get perfect cuts with and I'd be somewhat worried about the weight and my poor drywall. I'll have to look around at Home Depot.

Yeah, I've made some out of 0C 703, only I did fabric over the wood frame rather than getting some higher quality wood and staining it.

The link you are posting I do agree that it will work, but I also agree that it is not going to look all that nice. I would build the diffusor out of wood if you are doing it yourself. We have a new QRD hitting the market, out of your price range of $600 per 2'x4', but if you take your time and good with a hammer you could build something like this.
