Is Definitive Technology Polk Audio Under a Different Name?

I pointed this out because Mazersteven made such a flaming remark saying that " I thought Bose owned Definitve Technology" .

Why give me a red chicklet? I was not flaming I was merely pointing out what Mazer said.

Whiver gave me a red chicklet than you very much. But you gave it to the wrong person!

Something is wrong giving "red chicklets" with no accountabilty.
How is it a flaming remark when I posts "J/K :D" at the end of the post?

Maybe your just to quick to jump to conclusions.

That's too damn much!:D

My 5.1 was like $9,200 INCLUDING the sub. I thought I was crazy!:D

BTW, did you ever get your S8 replaced?
I took the speaker to Audio Workshop and they checked everything on it. The tweeter was the only damaged component. They ordered tweeter and grille for me and I replaced it at home. I posted some pics of the replacement.

I did pay too much! Two months after I bought my system I found a store that discounted, but the damage was done.

Am I missing something here?
Or are the natives just getting restless?

I read quickly and I guess I missed the "J/K :D" at the end.

Anyway , I am pretty disgusted with red chicklet feedback. I think I am leaving AVForums.

... See you all :)

I enjoy the fact I am not getting romantically involved with this thread, but it's sure fun to read.:D

You did a great job. I would not have known what to do with that.:D

One thing i find odd is none of the reviews of DefTechs actually show pictures of the drivers...every picture has grills on.

Audioholics literally takes the speakers/subs they review *apart* and takes pictures of the insides...

Just say Polk speakers SUCK. Then just Add a pinch of J/K.:D Then it's all okay because you are just J/K:D.

You can pretty much get away with anything just as long as you include the J/K & the :D at the end.

This kind of thread never is useful. Every one defends their speakers, and no longer makes objective comments. It’s been a while since I did not hear a similar price speaker (or audio equipment) that’s clearly better than other. Yes, some may sound a little different or better to you, but I think people should just stop trying to convince other people that "my speaker is better than yours" and just enjoy movies-music. Sometimes someone try to convince people that a speaker sucks, and maybe that person work hard to own that speaker, and is proud of it…,so even if this is just a hobby, we should not forget about respect for other people. I am sure this way this will be a better place to talk about what we like and not a place to fight.

Def Techs don't have "grilles", but close-fitting fabric "socks". They expect these to be left in place, so they spend all the money on performance, not looks.

Are there any third party measurements/reviews on the Polk Rti12 or the new rti a9.

They can be easily removed and replaced.

This only happens when someone first makes nasty remarks about a certain speaker and then say J/K:D.

And then someone else does a counter-response about a certain speaker with the J/K:D.

And then it goes downhill from there.

The OP just wanted to know if DefTech and Polk are related.

Thanks to Codexp3, we now know that Directed Electronics own both DT & Polk as well as other brands.

I don't know why everyone get all butt hurt about this stuff. Isn't kind of fun trashing your buddies now and then? I ride a Suzuki GSX-R1000 and constantly insult my buddy's pee green Kawasaki and he does the same back.

My neighbor told me the other day my speaker sock was basically a condom for ... well... you get the idea. How can you not laugh at that?

Well they need condoms as not to contaminate the world with their nastyness... I mean, imagine if everyone were infected with definitive technologies, what kind of world would this be?

HA!

My nieghbor's boss who has B&W's in one room and Revel in the other said the "sock" was basically a paper bag to hide the ugliness of the speaker!

My response was something pathetic like "Oh yeah, well your stupid yellow midrange driver is... is... just... well... stupid."

I don't mind a bit of trash talkin' now and then. It keeps everyone grounded.

Does the sock go all the way around? Is it removable, or is it like an Svs cylinder sock?

If its removable, would one of the deftech owners mind posting a pic or two?
