Government Loves $4 Gas

I think our government loves the fact that gas is $4.00 a gallon.
They are sitting back, and making more money (and doing nothing) while raking in extra tax revenue. The politicians (Democrats and Republicans) are taking us for a ride.

Do you know that Exxon Mobile paid 30 Billion dollars in taxes in 2007?! (at a 41% tax rate)

The bottom 50% of all Americans (65 million people) paid 27.4 Billion in taxes in 2007.

This means that ONE SINGLE "big-oil fat-cat" company paid more in taxes that HALF of the American population.

With a $9.5T national debt, they are not getting rich off the excess tax revenue. Pretty soon it will be $20T. Will anyone care? Bankruptcy:eek:

Seth=L seems to be the only one that gets it.

Wow, way to totally miss the point of my post.
My point being: Our government isn't in a hurry to see gas prices go down.
They are raking in tons of cash. All, with no thanks to them saving or cutting spending. It's happening at our expense.

I suppose as a business owner I just see it differently.
The government is like a silent partner; that, for the most part, contributes little.
Though, always has it's hand out.

Read the paper today, may be in yours too, how much earmarks are out with no end in sight, benefiting some larger business owners:D Time to make some donations and get on the bandwagon to bankruptcy:D

Maybe you might want to consider relocating.

Make no mistake, this inflation will cause an economic collapse. Thanks go to the Elitests that want to control the whole world. Thank you Ted Kennedy and other Senators/House Reps, thank you bunches for lining your pockets with money and preparing yourselves to be in the position of power when the time comes.

Above all, thank American citizens sitting back and watching it all happen on TV, or often times disregarding the situation entirely as if nothing bad could possibly happen to America or those that populate it. It would have been easier to fix it earlier, it's going to get harder and harder every day that passes. The situation will not improve until the masses decide to do something about it.

Sorry, ranting...*yawn*....maybe that's extreme, but looking at it from my point of view it sure doesn't seem that way.

One thing Americans can do is get off of their a$$e$ and vote when the time comes. In the last Presidential election, ONLY 17% nationwide voted. That is just pathetic. Not really surprised things are they way they are because the masses are not interested in voting. Makes no sense whatsoever.

Cheers,

Phil

Politicians have been doing this since the beginning :p
This may be true, but one thing is for certain-when Bill Clinton was President I had MORE money in my pocket AND my dollar bought me more. Say what you will, but at least with a Democratic President, most do better finacially speaking. There are also more jobs to be had that pay a fair wage. Heck, I am about to lose my job and will unless the economy improves. :(:(

Phil

The stock market (during the Bush years) has been the highest it's ever been in history. Bad Economy? Greed, and bad judgment by people in the real estate market is all I see.

Well mazer I am by no means an expert on our economy. But, one thing I can say is that under the Clinton Administration I got by just fine. No, I wasn't getting rich by any means, but I had more money in my pocket AND I could buy more with it. Just look around and you will see that many people are losing their jobs. Many of which, have done it for a significant amount of time. People are losing their homes, can't afford health insurance, and are doing good to eat. In fact, many are going hungry which makes me sad for the children. Nothing more than total exploitation here locally and nationally. Hence, the rich are getting richer and the poor getting poorer. The haves vs. the have-nots. My hours have gotten cut and soon may not have a job. One of our stores is for sale and another is on the verge of closure as well. That only leaves two others and neither of which is doing much business. People just don't have the extra money and credit only goes so far. This in turn, results in a stagnant situation that leaves many of us on the losing end.

Cheers,

Phil

Can you give us some number? Say when buddy Bill took office, when the King took office and where it is today?
How about that unemployment rate? Highest since Ronni was in office in 1986:D
And, when the King backed off regulating and monitoring business, what do you expect but greed?
