I'm in coastal Oregon, Duffinator. Yeah, it was a huge heartbreak. I've sent the one with the veneer damage out to a furniture repair guy to see what he can do. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Apparently that's the kind of repair person I should have been looking at all along...rather than the cabinet guys I asked.

ADS has been around a long time...I'll have to look those models up. Thanks for the information.
Wow they did a great job on the repair and I too look forward to reading your impressions of how the speakers sound. If they are anything like ADS L1290 (I'm sure they are better) they should have nice tight bass. Here's an ADS website I contribute to. Micheal Kelly is the guy that designed both speakers.

Wow can we get a before and after side by side shot because they did an amazing job. Can't even tell they were ever damaged.

Ask and ye shall receive. :D (Can't do it side by side here, but how about top/bottom?

(Note...because of the cheap camera, lousy photographer, and flash, the color is correct on the damaged pic...not the fixed speaker image. The slight shine on the corner near the repair is an artifact of the flash and is not in the repair job.)

This guy worked miracles if you ask me.

I think you might get a chuckle over my real first impression of the Aerial lineup. Below is a post I made here a couple of years ago and have been lusting for them ever since. But a decent review will be forthcoming. Now to get AverageJoe over here to help move these monsters......:)......

Does anyone here own Aerial Acoustics speakers? (Wanna sell 'em cheap? :D )

I heard some of these yesterday...a couple of models...I think I found the ultimate speaker from which you'll NEVER want to upgrade. See, this is the problem with speaker shopping. Ya go in looking for some Paradigms that you can afford (but can't stand, as it turns out)....and there THEY are....off in that darkened room over there....like a gentle kiss blown from a beautiful stanger. Oh, be still my beating heart. THOSE! I WANT THOSE!! You walk closer and closer...right up to the gentle stranger and in that dim light, slowly focus on the golden nameplate. And it seductively says...whispers, really...."Aerial Acoustics". And THEN....like the slap on the face by a jealous husband...'THWHACK!!'....$10,500 per says the little card on the top of the speaker. Ugh...NOOOOOooooooo. Then it's back to Shirley and the kids and the run-down house in the bad part of town with the barking neighbor's dog and squeaky swing from the other side and the JBLs........ :(

Nice post. Hey what's wrong with JBL's? This is the direction I've gone...

Looks good. I didn't realize the 7Bs have the light edges all around. Almost looks like the furniture repair guy did something weird to them.

It's the flash at work, I think. The corners/edges are lighter but not quite like they show in the repaired pic. The repair guy did a pretty good job of matching the look of those. That really is a bad picture. I'll have to take another in sunlight. But yes, for certain, the Aerials do have the slightly lighter edges.

I don't know if I have something shut off in my computer...but I'm not able to access these pictures, Duffinator. (I get a little red X in a box, instead.) What are they?

JBLs...yes, IMHO they are grossly over-ignored and frequently get a bad rap by people who have never given them a decent home audition. They still make fine fine loudspeakers and always have. You can get everything from value-laden inexpensive speakers to world-class, hugely expensive setups like the Everest. I think it's just that JBL is now seen as passe by the ID brand, or show-off brand speaker dilatantes.

They are DIY LE14A's with composite waveguides using 2452H SL 2" titanium dome aquaplas coated compression drivers with custom made quasi 2.5 way xovers similar to 4430 all is modified Barzilay cabinets. So some older technology combined with the latest from JBL.

I've own/owned five pair of ADS speakers including a pair of L1090's and would love to get my hands on some 7B's at a reasonable price.

I'm trying to recall, but it's been a year and a half since I heard the 7Bs and I really didn't look at them that closely, I just sat back and listened. I guess I vaguely remember the slightly lighter edges.

What finish were they, emorphien? That might make a difference.

Wow, RJ! Those things look great! Glad you finally caught a break! (No pun intended) As all have said, a review is due!

Can you provide a link to the pics? I'd enjoy seeing them!

Here's the link to the thread I created when I built them. I'm still amazed how good of a job your repair person did. Very nice work.
Aha. I went into audiokarma and hadn't ever updated my new email addie with them. I haven't been there for many months. I went in to look at your pics, and now they even show up in your post here. Weird. I'll never understand computers.

They look great, Duffinator. What a fine project...I'll wager it was a bunch o' fun doing them, too.
