Just found this Forum and I must say its very informative and looks like a awesome Forum : ) Thought I'd say hi and throw a few rookie questions out there. First of all I just purchased some Paradigm Studio 60's along with a CC-690. I've only had them a few days and im loving them, they really seem to compliment my Denon 3808 Along with my Velodyne DPS10, I've got Boses cubes and 301's for sr and srb that will have to do until I can match them with some ADP590'S .I've never in my life enjoyed music/blueray movies so much before, I even find my self listening to jazz and classical like never before its so soothing after a hard day of work and it seems like im hearing it live , I love how you can even hear the the musician's fingers sliding across the strings going from cord to cord its amazing.Anyway my question is should I upgrade my speaker wire/BIWire and is it worth it ? Wright now im just running some basic 16 gauge AR wire. I was pricing some wire and it was around 450 just for my fronts not including my center and thats seems to be a lot but I dont mind as long as I'll have a noticeable difference. Thanks in advance and looking forward to talking to everyone soon .

Welcome

Don't waste your time with Bi-Wiring. No sonic improvement at all from Bi-Wiring.

If your runs are over 25' I would recommend 12-14 gauge.

Thanks everyone for the help and links. The other speaker cable I was pricing was audioquest I think it was the cv4 but like I said 450 seemed steep and didnt know if it was worth. This bluejean link is a fraction of the cost it looks like with there top of the line bi wire with spades should be only around 150ish. Thats a big price difference, thanks again :)

P.S. -replace the Bose speakers as soon as you can ;)
LOL i've had theses Boses for years now and it seems they wont go away:p But its funny they blend pretty good and dont sound to bad but there definately going to turn into "the other room speakers " when I finish licking my wounds from spending more and sooner than I should of on my new speakers. But im glad I made the decision to switch to paradigm.

So you guys really think I'm better off going with a 10 or 12 gauge wired instead of bi-wiring with 14 gauge ? Most of the peeps at the Audio places around here say bi-wiring is the way to go. But now im not sure........

12 gauge is fine for anything under 100' runs. Like Mazer said, your not going to notice an audible difference between mono and bi-wiring unless your running way to small of wire in the first place.

DIY is an option if you really want snazzy looking cables.

Well I ended up ordering some 12 gauge bi-wire with banna plugs from monoprices but im not sure if im going to use them or just go bare wire. But I think im going to try bi-wiring just for the hec of it, I guess it wont hurt thats for sure.Hopefully its some good speaker wire, it looks like it has good ratings and I saved almost 500 dollars instead of getting audioquest. Everything with 2 day shipping for a 100 feet was 100 dollars and change.Even though im only using about 40 feet of it now I'll have some when I upgrade my srb and surround speakers.

Why bother giving advice, when no one listens? You won't hear a real difference. You may imagine one, but it was a waste of money. Don't expect a lot of help if you've made up your mind from the get go.

You could have saved half that and not notice any difference in SQ, and put the remaining portion of what you just shelled out towards new speakers or something. I just don't understand why people come here looking for advice all the time, then promptly ingore everything and do what they were going to do anyway. I would call that a waste of time.

At any rate - enjoy what you have, if you're happy with it all, then who is anyone else to disagree.

The reason the audio places say bi-wiring is the way to go?
They are profiting from selling twice as much wire.
It's definitely the way to go....for them.

The imagination is a wonderful thing : ) as far as taking advice I did weigh out every ones advice and I Did use the referral links which were much appreciated. A waste of money well I don't think so because Its a upgrade from the speaker wire I was running anyway, as far as the gauge goes. Thank you though for the kind words and I am enjoying my stay most everyone here seems to be very nice and courteous. :)

Thats understandable but a good friend bi-wired his system and highly recommended it to me to. But thought I'd get some more opinions and by no means did I mean to disrespect anyone here by not taking there advice and like I said it was much appreciated. I did weigh everything out and thats what I decided,

Sometimes people just hear what they want to hear. I fear this is the case with your friend.

You mean with friends like that, "who need enemies ? :D

I had a friend a long time ago that talked me into Bose 901s. maybe it is good that I lost touch with Him.

I agree with halon 451. You can actually use lamp cord in bulk from Home Depot and no one would hear the difference. Copper is copper.

901's were a great speaker in their day. And still a good speaker today.
