Bare Wires are OK if it's a permanent installation. Banana Plugs are OK to, and make it easy to connect, and disconnect speakers.

Another vote for blue jeans cables for all your cable/wire needs.

Bare wires are just fine. The Audio Critic actually recommends bare wires.

Thanks Guys Ok another quick question , the bi-wire I bought said it was 12 gauge so does that mean all four wires are 12 gauge or is that a total of all wires combined  and btw way I ordered banana plugs but i've always just went bare wire but I know from previous occasions 12 ga wire can be a pain to do bare. Heres a link to the wire I bought http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10239&cs_id=1023901&p_id=4037&seq=1&format=2

I use bare wires , but tin them with soldering iron. (heat up wire with soldering iron, then touch rosin core solder to wire and it will suck up the solder). This makes the end solid and provides a good long-term speaker connection solution.

While wire is a commodity item the differentiation comes in the cable durability and the quality of the connectors.

If you are not comfortable making your own cables, then buy a good cable like Blue Jeans Cables, URL: http://www.bluejeanscable.com/

Good luck

No!

No banana plugs from monoprice! They are cheap and come off too easily.

You need to get LOCKING banana plugs, which you can get from Blue Jeans Cable.

I hate to say this, but I just cannot recommend monoprice. Good quality cables all sound the same. The most important thing is the connector.

I bought a bunch of monoprice cables at first - all gold plated and all. The connectors kept on coming loose. The banana plugs totally sucked. Now I have switched completely to Blue Jeans Cables for interconnects, HDMI, speaker cables, and banana plugs.

Yeah, the important thing is for the wires to firmly connect to the speaker terminals. Just use the bare wires and keep the wires tight in the terminals.

I believe I have blown an amp or two in the past because my speaker wires came loose!

That would mean each individual wire is 12ga.

As for banana plugs, I prefer them. The first time you have to disconnect and reconnect your speakers you will appreciate having taken the time to add them, especially on the reciever end.

I haven't used the ones from monoprice, so I can't comment. I have used the ones from BJC and they work fine. My banana plugs are a mix of BJC and the ones from Parts express, part number 091-330. Both are good quality. (I don't use the locking ones, I like to heat shrink over most of the connector. That doesn't mean I think they are bad, lots of people like them and highly recommend locking banana plugs.)

OK GUYS my speaker wire came in and was wondering if its important to keep them similar lengths . Or can I like go 5 ft on one front and 15 on the other ? Im thinking about keeping it all equal lengths. But just wanted some input from someone with more experience.
