I received mine yesterday, it was double boxed with Styrofoam peanuts in-between. The outer box was damaged but the packing took the damage—the receiver was fine.

This was an upgrade from a RX-V550 and holy smokes what a difference! Now I just have to calibrate the thing…lol! :D
Should I be more concerned about the shape of my box and that it wasn't double boxed for shipping? :(

So are there any deals for a RX-V1800 floating around?

Trouble with 6ave

Hello,

This is my first post here. I've lurked off and on previously but I felt compelled to join in order to share my experience with other members here regarding my purchase of this receiver from 6th Avenue Electronics.

Mods, if this isn't the proper forum for this, please feel free to move it or delete it.

I'd first like to acknowledge tomd51 for making the info about the 6ave deal and coupon known. I used the code and was given the stated discount when I ordered the 3800 in Jan 24th. Everything was proceeding fine until the day of delivery. I took the day off because, for one thing I was really excited about getting this baby, and the other reason was that I've never dealt with 6ave's shipping company, DHL so I wanted to be home when it was delivered. While I was sitting here at my computer, the truck pulled up to my house, and as I was watching, the driver slid the box to the end of the van, picked it up and tossed it into the street. I was furious, as well I should be. When the driver knocked on my door, I told him, you dropped the box in the street! "No I didn't", I said yes you did, I watched you do it! I then said I'm refusing this shipment and I want to mark the shipping forms indicating that. He told me there were no forms and then he scanned the label barcode. I looked at the DHL online tracking info later and realized he didn't scan it as refused but instead as received. I immediately called DHL and filed a complaint against this delivery, then called 6ave and explained the situation to them as well. They said no problem, when we receive the dropped package back at our warehouse we'll ship another one. It was about three days after the box was back at DHL's depot before they issued a return tracker, why it took so long I don't know, but I kept an eye on the return shipment status anyway.

This post is getting long so to make a long story short, I still haven't received a replacement. I've been on the phone with 6ave CS probably 10 times now, and nearly one month later I still don't have my 3800. It looks like their reps are either simply inept or they've been telling me lies about my replacement. It's gotten to the point now that I'm so angry and frustrated with this process that I just want my credit card reimbursed, but that request has been ignored by their CS. I've also demanded to speak to the CS manager, but again, ignored. I called again yesterday and the first thing the rep said was: "Sir, I'll have to investigate this and call you back because this order number shows as being delivered." I said, look at the return tracker and you'll see that it is at your warehouse. After a few more expletives and more demands to speak to the manager, he told me the next one will be shipped on Monday.

So, I just wanted to make people here aware of this situation, and it is my intention to spread the word around to other discussion forums next week in the event this situation isn't resolved to my satisfaction. A turnaround time of one month because of something I had no control over is in my opinion absolutey unacceptable.

Thanks for reading this.

I'm unable to post links here until I have at least five posts, but if you want to read about my entire experience it can found on the Audio Review.com forums, of which I'm a member. Under the "Share" button at the top of the page, click forums, then the "Home Theater" forum then on the title "Purchased the RX-V3800" started by me. You'll see that I'm not just someone with an axe to grind with 6ave, I'm just tired of being lied to by their CS.

6ave always struck me as kinda shady, really, even though I have no real basis for saying that other than "a feeling," and the problem above may just be an isolated incident. No one's going to jump in to defend them with a personal anecdote of their own?

Thanks Store Admin. I finally received an e-mail today from 6ave with a new tracking number, and I requested them to include a note in the shipping doc's to hold the replacement at the depot so I can pick it up myself. That'll at least eliminate one "hazard". Yes there is much to be suspicious about with this company, one that I've never purchased from before, but had I known the turnaround time for a replacement would be so slow, I certainly would have given your store the chance right off the bat. It's hard to thumb your nose at what really comes out to be a $700.00 discount off MSRP when you include free shipping/no sales tax though. It would be nice if all online retailers treated their customers the same as companies like Amazon does with their return policy.

Incedently, I received a response from Yamaha today as well letting me know who I should contact there in order to register a complaint against 6ave. I think I'll wait until AFTER I get my receiver before going down that road.

Another case of live and learn I guess.

I would like to say that Will was great to me in getting this 3800 on order through him instead of 6ave. I may have paid a little more(not much), but to me his quick responses sealed the deal to me.

Just to let you know. DHL is a german based logistics company. They normally do well at shipping stuff. You must have a had a bad delivery guy (Well, obviously you did.)

Just wanted to let you know that DHL isn't a sketchy company...

This is not going very well so far....

"Latest tracking info shows my box as "with courier for delivery".

NOOOOOOO! I said... hold the freakin box at the depot so I can pick it up myself!!! I told 6ave CS three different times to include that instruction in the delivery note, but when I called the DHL rep, he said no such note was on the docs.I told them I won't be home and I don't want another situation like I had with the last driver. The rep told me he'd contact the driver and tell him not to deliver it. And he told me I could pick it up from the depot this evening. Can you believe this???

So, round & round the neighborhood it goes, where it stops... NOBODY knows."
