Is Emotiva the ReIncarnation of Mondial Designs?

I have a question.

Wasn't av123 selling Emotiva gear for many years. Now how come I can't find Emotiva gear on av123's website?

Did the two of them part ways?

Actually the audio cicuits and all switching are pure analog in the RSP-1. It was designed to be a purest piece of equipment. Same Emo design, 1% resisters, glass epoxy boards, Burr Brown Opamps and all switching is done via gas filled (argon) relays. :)
That's why Audioholics gave the RSP-1 a FIVE STAR rating for 2-ch audio performance and some other $5K pre-pros 4 stars!!!

But what I want is a preamp/processor (like the DMC-1) to match the pure sound quality of the RSP-1!

Can Emotiva come out with a pre-pros that can absolutely match the sound quality of the RSP-1?

The Acurus RL-11 is not only high quality analog, but the Left and Right channels are actually completely separated from each other; the Left channel on one side and the Right channel on the other side of the PC board---I believe that's what I've read in The Audio Critic's review.:D

Is the RPS-1 the same way? Each analog channel separated from the other on completely different sides of the board?

I thought AV123 and Emotiva are the same exact company, just different name badges---Emotiva selling MAINLY amps, preamps, and pre-pros and AV123 selling speakers and subwoofers?

Hmmmm I must have missed this thread, congrats on the new amp there AcuEmoDefTechGuy !!!!

I got 1.5 days until I can order my Emotiva XPA-5, and get a free T-SHIRT whoop de doooo !!!!!

I hope its a cool one... I hate lame T-Shirts...

So after all this rediculus talk about triggers, and companies... are we going to get some feedback about your new amp... maybe some sort of mini review, build quality, screws missing, sound quality or if some sort of improvement has been made towards your system or what...?

:D:D:eek::eek::D:D

speaking of triggers I need to go shooting... my glocks are getting lonely! I also got a new 12 volt trigger wire from Rat Shack yesterday, the one linked in this thread. I didn't have time to hook it up last night since I've been busy messing with my new PC, but I'm going to put it on tonight and see how it works.

The XPA-5 looks like a deal killer: 200 wpc x 5 for $700??? The MPS-2 is 200 wpc x 7 for $1,700? Doesn't seem fair, does it?

Should I be sending my MPS-2 back to get the XPA-5 and save $1,000?

Is the XPA-5 listed on their website yet?

Hey, they didn't tell me anything about a free T-Shirt! I got ripped off right off the bat! (That's a 1 point deduction:D). I should send the MPS-2 back just for that!:)

Yeah, I look forward to writing a little mini-review w/ pictures.
Oh, and it will include pics of my patended new AcuEmoDefTechGuy Braided Speaker Cables.:D

New triggers? That is funny! Just had to get something new, didn't you? The old one just didn't give you enough slack, did it?:D

Speaking of new, did you notice anything different about my Signature???:D

No the old trigger is really tight, no slack at all... I don't like that. Besides, I needed to go to radio shack anyway, so I thought I might as well pick it up anyway... and yeah, I needed to buy something new lol. The one I bought is really nice, and has heavier guage wire, not that it really matters. I saw your amp after someone had mentioned it in another thread.

Nah, the XPA-5 is only 5 channels and is class AB, I would keep the MPS-2 for sure.

Is there a chart on the ratings of the efficiency of the different classes...

Should I be swayed to not buy the Class A/B over the Class H amp..?

Actually, I'm only doing 5.1, and I may never go back to 7.1. I just hate the feeling of being cheated somehow. I mean if the build/fit/finish quality of the XPA-5 is the same as the MPS-2, why is it so much cheaper? And I wonder if it will look exactly the same as the MPS-2. That would make it even more tempting.

They say this thing will run just as cool as their other Class A/B, so the only difference will be in the efficiency... a bit less then the Class H you have... I definately like how it looks... sleek... I could easily be swayed to switch this with my Rotel for the Coolness factor..

Huh.... Looks like all you get is 2 extra blue lights... you should feel cheated... :D

CRAP! CRAP! CRAP!:D

DAMN YOU!:D

The XPA-5 looks just as awesome as the MPS-2!

Now I'm going to have to return the MPS-2 and get this XPA-5!!!

How much do you think it will cost me in terms of shipping the MPS-2 back?

But $1,700 - $700 (or -$800) = A LOT OF MONEY!

If I only need 5 channels, is there any reasons NOT to get the XPA-5?

How much does the XPA-5 weigh?

So tell me, exactly why do you think I should keep the MPS-2?

Because it's BAD A$$?

Because it's more hardcore?

Because it weights 115 pounds?

Well it seems to me, that for double the price, I'm just going to stick with the XPA-5... I don't mind that its not as efficient, as long as it does what its told... :) And looks pretty doing it... :D

I guess YMMV....
I know the XPA-5 is just a 1 piece unit.... but..

Was the shipping free on the MPS-2?

Did they come with the cards seperate from the enclosure ?

Are you generally happy with the build quality?

The shipping was free on the MPS-2. I wonder how much shipping it would be for 3 different boxes totaling 115+ pounds?

Build quality looks good. Yes, you have to install each of the seven power amp modules yourself! 7 x 4 screws = 28 screws. You have to remove the protective film cover on each of the module before installing.

I guess you might have more "bragging rights" on the MPS-2 because it is a Seven-mono power amplifier (each channel is completely independent = 7 Torroid transformers). I guess the XPA-2 is a 5Ch amp that shares ONE Torroid transformer.

So crosstalk will be like >120dB on the MPS-2 and >70dB on the XPA-2 (since the crosstalk on their Reference Preamp is >70dB).

But like you said, you most likely won't hear any difference.

I'll probably just keep the MPS-2 because it is a very unusual Seven-Mono Power Amplifier, which I don't know if there is anything out there like it.
