I'm just using a 1/8 mono jack I found in my box of cables and wires... cut one end off and stripped the two wires and hooked it up. But I need a longer one since I have no slack at all in the wire, and if I need to move my receiver at all, I have to disconnect the 12v trigger wire.

Ah, I see. Yeah, come to think of it, I probably have a bunch of those 1/8" mono plugs over the years. I always wondered when I would ever use them!

sometimes it takes a while to get enough signal to turn the amp on... it's best to just have it turn on when the receiver or preamp(s) turn on. Plus I don't know how the MPS would work with the signal sensing input, it may not turn on each individual amp module until it gets signal for that channel, or it may turn them all on at once, I'm not sure.

Turns them on one at a time and drives you crazy not to mention the diaster you can have if you go into an auto set-up before they all click on. Ask me about that one as I had it happen.

The trigger works much better. It turns on all the amps instantly. I used the signal sensing for a while with my previous receiver and when I had to listen at low levels channels would turn off. Now if you are fortunate to not have to listen below reference levels than I would not worry.

Yeah, the MPS-2 will be on top shelf. No way I'm stacking ANYTHING on top of this 115 pound metal tank! I'm really afraid just thinking about setting this amp up!

The RL-11 preamps will be stacked on the 2nd shelf.

The HD-XA1 HD DVD will be on 3rd shelf.

The DMP-BD10A will be on 4th shelf until it is replaced by the DMP-BD50.

The Panamax 1000 will be on bottom shelf.

Thats a perfect set up. So when your top shelf breaks so does everything else! .

Most always due to physics and the typical design of racks the bottom shelf is far more sturdy than the top one...Just a thought.

Well, all the lower shelves can only handle (specified) 40 lbs each, but the top shelf can handle (specified) 100 lbs. However, I have doubled the glass on the top shelf for reinforcement (two identical top piece). In other words, the top glass shelf is four times the thickness of the lower glass shelves.

Yeah, I wish I could put the 115 lb amp on the lowest shelf. Actually, if the amp were a little smaller, I could QUADRUPPLE reinforce the lowest shelf. However, the MPS-2 is also WAY TOO BIG to even fit on the bottom shelf, which can only accomodate a 17" depth MAX. The MPS-2 is about 19" depth.

What are you trying to do to me, Andrew? Stress me out?

Now I'm thinking I should TRIPPLE reinforce the top shelf!

Should be fine on the top self as long as the self is tied to the wall so it doesn't tip forward. You could always just get a new self to put it on.

Each channel on the MPS-1 has its own signal since circuitry, so each one will turn on when it sees a signal. Now as for the delay, the signal since system is a time weighted average, so depending on how strong the incoming signal is it could take a couple of microseconds to a couple of seconds. It all comes down to how fast will the incoming signal charge a cap. We do it this way to prevent the amps from turning on just because there was an electrical spike.

Well, I still have my Acurus RL-11 preamps. So technically, I can still be AcuDefTechGuy.

Now if Emotiva ever come out with a pre-pros that can match the 2-ch audio performance of a true analog stereo preamp, then I will become a EmoDefTechGuy.

Actually the audio cicuits and all switching are pure analog in the RSP-1. It was designed to be a purest piece of equipment. Same Emo design, 1% resisters, glass epoxy boards, Burr Brown Opamps and all switching is done via gas filled (argon) relays.
