Will Smith annoys the hell out of me. Sory, but he'll always be that annoying kid from Fresh Prince of Bel Air to me. I might go see it. I'll definitely rent it though.
Now this is the story all about how
My life got flipped, turned upside down
And I'd like to take a minute just sit right there
I'll tell you how I became the prince of a town called bel-air

In west Philadelphia born and raised
On the playground where I spent most of my days
Chilling out, maxing, relaxing all cool
And all shooting some b-ball outside of the school
When a couple of guys who were up in no good
Started making trouble in my neighborhood
I got in one little fight and my mom got scared
And said "you're moving with your auntie and uncle in bel-air"

I whistled for a cab and when it came near the
License plate said "fresh" and had a dice in the mirror!
If anything I could say that this cab was rare
But I thought naw forget it, yo home to bel-air

I pulled up to a house about seven or eight
And I yelled to the cabby "yo, homes smell you later"
Looked at my kingdom I was finally there
To sit on my throne as the prince of bel-air!

My older son and I saw it last night so here it is straight from fan of the book and the prior movies. First, I Am Legend is not a bad film, but it is no more accurate to the book than any of the other films. Second, the movie visually looks good and captures the small movie feel of the other films. Third, the movie is not offensive in any way and Smith plays it straight. Last, the movie pays respect to the Omega Man several times throughout the film. Those are the good things

Here is the bad news. First, the CGI vampires looked like doodoo, Second, Last Man on Earth had Vincent Price, Omega Man had Charlton Heston, this movie has Will Smith and that was a bad casting choice. He is totally unconvincing in the role and is just not a good enough actor to carry a movie such as this by himself. He tries, but he falls way short. This movie needed a great actor not a mediocre actor at best. This was really a wasted opportunity because it is such a great story. It's worth a rental, but don't waste your money at the theater. If you loved the book and other films, just wait a few months and rent it.

We went and saw opening day 1st showing matinee for $5. Theater was maybe 1/3 full. Interesting movie, a bit disturbing, depressing, but a pretty good suspense thrill thats not graphic. Ambient noises in the "quite" scenes were good, birds, bugs...and very empty feeling. And the mustang is pretty sweet echoing through "canyon" walls. The Dark knight preview on the big screen is almost worth the admission.

I really liked the movie, I thought Will Smith did a decent enough job with it.

It looks like he's pretty ripped for this role...

I wish I was paid to get my burn-on.

Yes he is in shape, but muscles do not an actor make!
It is all open to interpretation, look at Arnold (well before he passed his prime).;)

You are right, being muscular doesn't make up for bad acting, usually, but I think Will Smith is a decent to good actor.

I liked it too, the cobra flying through the streets in the beginning was great, supercharger whine and everything.

Seth, I think maybe you are lowering your standards. Denzel Washington, ED Harris, Nick Cage, John Cusack, Kevin Costner are all really good actors. Robert Duval, Robert Di Nero, Jack Nicholson, Harrison Ford, George C Scott are all GREAT actors.

Will Smith is a hack in comparison to those guys, mediocre at best. That's my opinion and I am right:D

Hey, I didn't put him in those ranks.:(

He is a decent actor, and that by no means says you have to like him.;)

The Postman, The Bodyguard, Tin Cup, Waterworld...... ;)
Actually, the Postman was not as bad as it was made out to be and I kind of liked Waterworld. The Bodyguard however, yech! and Tin cup I will take your word on. Like I said, he is not consistent.

I thought Mr. Brooks was good also.:)

Why wouldn't Denzel be in the great actors section?
