I have good news to all Howard Stern fan out there. I just heard the trailer “History of Howard” in his show Howard100. Ohh man, it’s astounding, Howard is really something in the media industry ( he is the man) lol. If you got a satellite radio tune in on December 17 t0 21 channel 100 and 101. Ohh by the way they’re having a holiday special going on right now and I’m just wondering if you want to check it wwwDOTsiriusDOTcom/freeradio. Howard Rules baby.lol

I wonder if that's something that will be packaged and sold.... I don't have Sirius and can't listen during the day anyway, but I'd pay to listen on my own time.

I doubt it, he's not big on selling his show content, the way he sees it, is that if you want to hear the show, you will subscribe to Sirius.

If I had a car with any sort of a commute I'd sign up tomorrow, but in NYC with no car and with shaky satellite reception (satellite radio in homes doesn't work well here) it's just not worth the money.

I didn't listen to him when he was free. I'm not likely to pay to listen to him. It is amazing what will make money for some people.

who's to say what's good taste and what is poor taste. Bottom line is that the man has tons of listeners and has done an incredible job of packaging himself and keeping his show fresh for over 25 years now. He is the definition of success in radio in the late 20th/early 21st century.

He's a shock-jock, deliberately trying to stir up controversy and make people react a certain way, while he rarely offers anything of real-world value or substance. This concept is growing old and stale, and quite frankly, it bores me. These days it's the opposite - what would truly be shocking is to have a radio show host that has something very useful and positive to bring to the table.

I have a Sirius radio in my car, and tune into Stern's show only when I want to shed a few IQ points.

Yet you still tune in.... that's the beauty and the genius of Howard Stern- he gets people who HATE him to listen.

What were the stats in his book/movie- Average Stern listener listened for 45 min a day, while the average Stern hater listened for 60-70 minutes a day. The thing that differentiates him is that he doesn't care about being liked, he just recognized that more listeners = higher ratings = more advertisers = more money = the more crap he could get away with b/c he was so financially successful for the stations.

Well, don't go clapping yourself on the back just yet. That was a very sarcastic statement on my part, and I was hoping that it would be interpreted as such. Truth is, I don't tune in for all the reasons I mentioned. :D

I do agree that many people probably do listen to him that otherwise can't stand the guy - I have no excuse for them, other than to say they are supporting the very thing they speak against. Their will, their way, their choice, while Stern is laughing all the way to the bank. Good for him. I love this country because he has the right and ability to do that.

It's also not uncommon for people (including myself) to tune in to other types of programming that I wouldn't normally agree with (for example political shows), but only when I want to get the other perspective. At least in that arena, both sides offer a little more meat for digesting than a has-been porn star faking an orgasm on live radio.

That is - when they take a break from all the blatant political bashing...

I am. I decide what is in good taste and poor taste for me. I never argue with success and I'm certainly not criticizing his. I just think that what he does is low class and in poor taste. If you like it that's your business but I won't back away from my statement that what he does is in poor taste.

Poor taste? You mean spanking a naked woman with a dead fish while she is singing is in poor taste? LOL! He did that some years back and I did LMAO, but I'm not proud of it. If I were to get satellite radio I would get the one he's not on.

You're not proud that you found something funny? Sorry- I don't get that. Is it sophomoric and idiotic- absolutely!! Was it illegal or did it hurt anybody- no. Why is it wrong to find something childish funny?
