So what about your video switching, and an FM tuner, I take it you don't even worry about those things?

wow, that's a lot of cables going on there, but I'm sure it sounds good.
Theoretically, if the notion that having separate preamps & amps give us the best sound, & that all amps and preamps sound the same (as long as low distortion, etc.) then yes, it sounds great. TAC says that processors sound differently, which is the case with receivers. So great receivers will sound great, but bad receivers will sound bad.

But speakers, of course, make the most difference.

I do sometimes enjoy using the DSP's on my Yamaha, but only rarely... usually the only DSP I use is the TV Sports one for watching NFL games, but for movies I pretty much leave it on standard Doldby Digital or DTS, the DSP's just add too much reverb.

My FM Tuner is an ANALOG tuner, the Magnum Dynalab FT-11. Good old analog:)

For Video, I have one HDMI from the Panasonic BD to my Mitsubishi HDMI Input-1, and one HDMI from the Toshiba HDDVD to the Mitsubishi HDMI Input-2. Direct Input is best, right? Cut out the middle man?

For broadcast TV, I just use an HD Antenna to pick up the local Hi-Def programs (NBC, ABC, CBS, PBS, FOX, WC).

For NFL games and college football games, I don't even use the sound system. I just use the TV speakers:) That is about the only thing I watch on broadcast TV. No Cable or Satellite for me.

So I just use the Acurus/DefTech sound system for Music and Movies.

I get all my tv from over the air, and since the HD has 5.1, I must use my surround sound! I never use the tv speakers for anything, I figure if I paid all that money for my sound system, I'm gonna use it.

Great, now you're putting more ideas and more cable$ into my head!

I also have a Sony SACD and my Panasonic BD has a DVD-Audio decoder. So far I'm not too impressed with the DVD-Audio, though. So I'm not going to even try SACD.
