so i finally got my new Pioneer VSX-82TSX to replace a Yamaha V659 and installed it about 2 weeks ago. the very 1st day i noticed a "staticy popping" sound come from what seemed all the speakers at once, subwoofer included. it seemed to do it from any input source and at any volume level, even muted.
so needless to say i called the retailer and they sent an installer to come swap it out for a new one on saturday.
problem - the sound is still there!!! its frequency seems the same, about an average of every 1/2hr i hear a quick POP.
this is all very strange to me as i never heard this sound when using my yamaha amp over the last year. yet at the same time it isnt a faulty pioneer amp as this is the 2nd brand new model still doing the same thing.
i spoke with the sales rep today who made a few suggestions. possibly due to the pioneer drawing more power then the yammy, its overloading the power socket (although i do use a monster power bar). so i ran an extension chord from another part of the house thats on a different breaker (i tested 1st) and plugged the amp into that.
no bueno, the noise is still there. the sales guy also suggested unplugging my ipod cable, as most clients dont use it so he thought maybe thats causing an issue. no bueno, noise still there.
the only other thing i have set differently from the yammy is my front speakers are now bi amped, so i just tried setting them back up normally(unplugged the extra sp.wires and put the bridges back in) still to no avail. the noise is still there. (i left the extra sp.wires plugged into rear channels of the amp so i didnt have to pull the amp out to unplug them-would that matter?)
would it matter that the pioneer is 130watts/ch opposed to 100watts/ch of the yammy?
any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated! thanks alot.
dont know if this helps, heres all of my seaker specs - all PSB Speakers.
