I'm waiting for Bill or someone else to post a locked thread that will have all the rules and details. I'm tired of checking back every few hours to see if something's changed. The whole thing is just nuts.

But yeah, I'll be spending a pretty penny on Genesis this year! Three box sets plus tickets for me and my gal. Hoo boy -- my bank account balance is gonna take a beating!

cheers,

I've already set an alarm on my alarm clock to remind me about it, plus multiple alarms on my computer to set myself up on TicketMaster and the Genesis site, just on the off-chance that they make pre-sales available right away. And I've been freaking out all morning!

Of course, if they don't announce a Toronto show, I'll be giving h*ll to Ultrastar for taking my bucks.

I still can't believe the boys are touring again! After years of rumours, they finally decided to do it! And I'll get to see them!

Freaking out, I tell you, I'm totally freaking out.

cheers,

I hope they have better techies at the show than the ones providing sound during this webcast.

The webcast in NYC - comment#2

Did you guys hear during press conference/webcast (which was hard to hear in the first place  ) somebody mentioning the top ticket price for this tour as $225.00 ?
Can somebody confirm that, please?

Yes, agree the webcast was crappy as far as sound is concerned.. the sound guy needs to be canned!
Ticket prices, I heard from $57 to $225 as well. Really if you think about it, $225 for the best seats in the house is much better then some other top groups get.

I also think that there is the possibility of more shows to be added. There are some gaps in their schedule, and Phil mentioned 20 shows - currently there are only 13 scheduled.

Oh I'm going to be spending this year! concert(s), 3 box sets, new book in the fall... the wife is going to have me dead!!

You and me both, Mike. Although, I'll likely forget about the new book.

$225 might seem a much better deal than other bands, but I'm flabbergasted. Didn't Phil say that they're not doing it for the money?! After having bought a new HDTV, a new DVD player, a hi-def PVR, one Genesis box set, NOW I have to figure on another couple hundred bucks just for concert tickets?!? Not to mention the fact that I had to pay for a frickin' pre-sale!!!

I think this year might be it for me and Genesis. Unless Peter and/or Steve decide to tour with the lads, I won't be handing over any more of my cash. They've got enough of it.

Still . . . can't wait for September 7th Toronto show!

cheers,
supervij

Despite that I am a huge Genesis fan, I would never spend $225 to see them. I will wait for the DVD as they will likely sound a lot better on my RBH T30 system then they will at the actual event!

Was there video to this webcast? If so, please send a link. thanks.

Guys - don't jump to conclusion so fast on the $225 ticket price, that's for the best seats in the house! Tickets will be around $57-$225 from what I have read. Hell I heard today that Roger Waters is doing the Dark Side of the Moon thing in Vancouver BC, and tickets start at $350US or something rediculous like that. Now talk about a rip - I don't care how good he is, that's a bloody ripoff!

The genesis people are working on a fixed version of the press conference (audio fixes), as well as they're going to add questions and answers that were done after the official press part.

By the way, the new site is fabulous - not to mention the giveaways they are going to be having etc... trips to the production rehearsals etc.. yes!

Tickets: $57, $77, $127, $227, Homepage SUCKS !!!

Hi, I just tried to buy the "member only" presale tix for the Philly show, and guess what ?
The TicketBastards are ready, everything works O.K. displaying the prices (as above) and waiting for you to put the passcode.
Which ... of course is only available to the registered members of the new Genesis Fandome from their New homepage, which has totally crashed !
It's 11:00 now (sale started at 10:00am), no passcode - no tix for me
By the way, the new site is fabulous - not to mention the giveaways they are going to be having etc... trips to the production rehearsals etc.. yes!Mike
Are you kidding me ? The new page is a total distaster (reminds me yesterday's webcast CHAOS) !!!
First, they build the hype with the last minute release of the new homepage (great idea - if it only worked !)
Then, they want you to register and pay $35.00 upfront
I tried to do it 3 times and only the third time "was a charm", because it always got stuck after providing CC info. The Admin suggested to create yet another account and then yet another, finally it worked !
Now I am trying to buy the Philly tix, need to get the passcode from the webpage, which has totally crashed after 10:00am !!!
The funniest (?) thing: when the error message "Page unavailable" comes up, it appears with the header which reads: "the policetour.com"

I'm MAD, MAD, MAD !!!

What were they thinking ?

WHAT WERE THEY THINKING ???
1)They released the totally new homepage just FEW HOURS before the major web conference and the official announcement of the N.America tour sites/ticket presale details. So, right away, you can expect the flood of the visitors.
2) They had to transfer all LEGACY MEMBERS accounts plus all the Forum contents from the old page.
3) They wanted EVERYBODY to register, give CC info, plus new members had to pay $35.00 upfront to become a "trustworthy member", and be elligible for the presales. You could imagine how big of a traffic that generated !
[I had to try it 3 times, and create 3 accounts to get this thing (finally) properly processed and accepted]
4) And that was just the tip of an iceberg ! The day after (which is today) the major tix presale starts for N.America, everybody needs to get the presale code from the same homepage, no wonder that this thing gets swamped and totally crashes !!! I mean, how much real-time testing they could have done in 1 (ONE) day ???
5) Somehow I have the suspicion, that the same guys who provided the totally screwed-up sound support (microphones) at the live web-broadcast yesterday are responsible for planning/designing the homepage here

With all due respect Gene - how can you even compare experiencing something LIVE (esp. with such a charismatic frontman as Phil is) and seeing/hearing it on your A/V equipment ??? Even the best rigs/cables/HD audio technologies cannot come even close to reproducing the MAGIC which you can experience by actually being there - in person, and (maybe even more important) among other fans, who feel the same way ...
I agree it's good to have concert DVD, play it on the great equipment, but only as the substitute (when you couldn't go) or reminder of the concert which you've actually saw in person.
My concert-DVDs collection is growing (about 60 titles right now, 1/2 of them I saw in person :) And believe me, I feel such a thrill when playing for example:
Genesis "We can't dance tour" DVD
OR Peter Gabriel's "Secret World tour " and "Growing Up tour" DVDs
OR Roger Water's "Wall in Berlin" and "In the Flesh Live"
OR Pink Floyd's "pulse"
OR Steve Hackett's ...
OR Yes' ...
OR Pat Metheny's ...
etc. etc. etc ... ONLY, because I actually was there, felt it, belonged to the mesmerized crowd of the fans like me .... :)

Hey man you are entitled to your own opinion of course, I just think the new site is way better then the old one. Also, they have been testing everything for over a month. Obviously, the site traffic has temporarly put it out of commission which I'm sure is pissing off many. I am waiting for the presales on the California shows, which were TBA. Nonetheless, I hope for you and others they get it back up soon.
One note on the crash, they said that the presale IS on hold, and codes weren't being issued etc. until the problem is resolved.

Good luck! Oh, and I agree with you about the live experience - Gene get yourself some tickets and travel if you have to, even if nose-bleeders!

Maria left a post on the G forum that they got hit with some kind of "broker script", which kept attacking over and over. Forty pre-sale codes were released before they were able to shut it down. Hence the $6000 price tag on four Montreal tickets!

They're trying to get those tickets cancelled, but we'll see.

She said that they're hoping to get back online by 3:00 pm. The AmEx sale was supposed to start at 2:00 pm, but seems to have been pushed to 3:00 pm as well.

I am so disappointed. Why didn't UltraStar just e-mail us the codes? What a fiasco.

still crying my heart out,

I hear you man. I'd love to see them live and then also have the HD DVD (if they release it). The sound will likely be better at home but the feeling at the show of course cannot be replicated.

Although I've been to a few concerts lately that were disappointing live but better on DVD mostly b/c the sound system sucked and I had bad seats :D

You're totally right. WHAT A FIASCO !!! It's almost midnight now (EST) and the site is still unavailable. I live in D.C. area, the tickets did not go on sale today for D.C., but I wanted to buy one extra for the Philly, which - amazingly enough - did not offer the AmEx deal, like all other places. So, ended up buying 4 tix for the NY Giants stadium through AmEx. :D
Still, my real goal is to get the best possible seats for my family in Wash D.C.

Well, I just got my tickets!

For $487.75 CND, I got two seats in section A1, thirty rows from the front. For that amount of cash, I would have hoped to get much better seats, but I tried twice to find the better ones, and these were the best.

September 7th, baby. SEPTEMBER 7TH!!!

Congrats, man! :D How did you get the promo code if the official site is still down? Or maybe they had the "open" presale or AmEx presale for your venue ?
Thanks, WAS

You didn't get your code e-mailed?

I got two e-mails from UltraStar last night. The first one had my pre-sale code. The second one had a link to the site to access my account which had my code.

Check your e-mail again! Hopefully, you've got it already.

cheers,

The official site of course is back up, but yeah what a mess. According to an official statement, there was a scalper or company trying to intercept forum members, trying to get there promo codes to buy up tickets.. but the site got shut down before much harm was done. It just ticked some fans off!
I'm waiting till monday for the San Jose presale.

Gene - the possibility exists that they will be adding shows, and maybe coming your way. Hopefully so.

WeAreSurrouned - you can go to the 'myaccount' link on the official site and that will get you to your promo code. No need to wait for an email.

Mike
