Denon AVR-S740H HDMI question/issue

I recently purchased a lot which included a Denon AVR-S740H. Works great, except for some reason I can't get the video to work. It was working fine when on my old Sony receiver (replacing the cable itself would involve taking down an 85 inch TV and rerunning the cable through the wall), and I've checked all other settings. I can't get to the network settings to try a firmware update, but I have tried a factory reset. Am I missing something or is there an issue with the HDMI board. I checked Google as well but it just shows me everything I've already tried. Thanks in advance!

Done for junk, needs to be recycled.

Might look thru input assignment....or can you get a GUI displayed or not? Generally the full resets are the most you can do.

I wasn't able to get the GUI to show up. I also noticed that it wouldn't show video from my Blu-ray player either.

So, that is an 8 year or newer receiver. It has either been abused or had a short life. I suspect that the device was connected to an active cable, and like so many they did not realize it needed a voltage inserter and so blew up the video/HDMI board. Receivers, and AVPs only have 50 ma max on pin 20, whereas active cables require 300 to 500 ma. Some HDMI outs labelled 4K HDCP 2.3 should be able to provide that, but not all do. So you have to be careful. That would be the most likely reason for what you have run into.

I'm thinking it had a rough life. I bought it as part of a lot from a local recycler (entire lot was $50 for the Denon, an older Onkyo, a vintage Panasonic Rensa amp and a vintage Magnavox CD player). Since the audio and ARC power on/power off functions still work, I'll just use it in the garage. I have a working AVR-S730H that I'll put in the living room instead. I had a Sony in the living room, but......the Denon produces way better sound.

I would say what you are doing is risky, and I hope you have good fire insurance! You bought this junk from a recycler? You have no idea how it was treated and may have been exposed to the elements. What you are doing is dangerous and very foolish.
