What Beer are you Drinking Tonight?

Remember a young guy about 10 years ago talking about Beer 30. Some funny stories I guess.:)

https://www.reddit.com/r/beer/comments/1hjpb3t
I remember drinking 12 beer 30 lights in a day and not feeling a thing, but it was $10.99 for a 30 pack, it might have actually been cheaper than water at the liquor store

-----

To this day it is the worst beer I’ve ever had (well actually, Beer 30 Ice is slightly worse). And I’ve had plenty of malt liquor, and even Kirkland Light.

If it's worse than Kirkland Light, that's REALLY bad!

---------

It is the only beer I've seen someone puke from drinking half of one, not because they were drunk, but because of what was in it. I think it was mostly just industrial chemicals mixed with paint thinner. That was about 18 years ago, it has been a lonnnnng time since I have seen it. But it also wasn't a stable product, seemed to disappear alot, even back then, then you would just happen to see it at a schnuks randomly and give in to the sheer cheapness of it all.

One of our favorite beer and pizza spots, JTown Pizza, closed today. Went by at lunch to see if they were open. They were there, as was the ABC affiliate interviewing them. They were selling off their alcohol cheap, but I didn't hear about it until yesterday. Very sad to see them go.

Apparently, they bought another location up the street to open a pub style restaurant. That location was a local famous local Mexican restaurant that closed due to a major kitchen fire. It seems the location is a historic building, so permits are much harder to get and there are major restrictions on what can be done to it, so they fought in court for a few years with no incoming money from that location and that sank both places.

Sadly too common to see a local spot close. We’ve had more than a few up here go down in the last year, as well.

Bummer they went in on that historic building. Too many restrictions on that stuff and a restaurateur (or at the very least their lawyer) should have known what they were facing. Long odds and a lot more money than they anticipated.

Pretty much the one and only these days. I'll have to take a trip to the "big" liquor store this weekend in hopes of finding something else. Probably Leinie's Dark.

something like that... It's just too d@mn easy for me to drink beer as water replacement. With my back jacked up, I don't move enough to balance the intake. :/

Damn jacked back is no good. Sorry to hear about that. Yeah beer is not a water replacement, if anything just makes ya need to double up!

That sucks. It affects your beer intake :) I have been too busy at work lately to drink too. Bought some beers I like and have not really been drinking any of them. That's why I invited the guys lol. Better to finish them all off than pour them out.

I have a couple of those in the fridge too. Tried and true.

Ya, the back thing might not be my back, but manifests there. This particular round of woe can be traced back to swimming. I had some phlegm tickling my throat and while I was in mid breaststroke finishing my glide and starting to pull I was wracked by a viscous cough that seized up my back. Been to the Chiro very frequently to minimal avail.
Was getting a massage and the therapist suggested, upon hearing that story, that it could be my diaphragm. I happen to know a person that can do such adjustments to the viscera and have an appointment next week. So, cautiously optimistic.

I am gonna go dry starting in March. Easing myself off is the only way I succeed. I can stop drinking whiskeys or good cocktails pretty easy. But beer is the kicker. If I don’t go beer-less for at least a month before going dry, I will fail miserably.

The Louvre could burn and it would be a loss, but if the pub burnt and I couldn’t get a proper pint…
:p

We had Other Brother Roundabouter, a hazy IPA. 6.8% It is out of Monterey/Seaside

Finished off the evening with Dragon's Milk Stout. Bourbon barrel aged. 11%, so only had a half. Very tasty.

Love this. Dragons milk is a favorite of mine. Especially this time of year. They also have a nice whiskey program.
