Looks like it has the signature inverted dome tweeter still used by Focal today. Glad it worked out.

"Woofers and speaker cloth have been replaced."

Hard pass on those speakers. When people get creative instead of refoaming you end up with abominations like this.

Remote possibility they used actual oem replacement woofers....but who knows. There is a guy nearby who stockpiled some ESS stuff (even has some new stuff last I looked)....but much of the ESS stuff I wouldn't want anyways, too many failures (used to ship stuff to europe for them, a lot of requests for returns were an issue).

That sub does not seem to have much going for it ... one of the drivers seems to be a passive radiator ... but if you want to spend $29

Didn't get it, Z. I only was thinking about it. What do you think of the Boston speakers?

I would have bought them ... the CS26 speakers are pretty good
It was tempting. I saw some old DMC that looked a bit rough that there a couple of weeks ago and were there for awhile. They were sold though.

I have the Snell K2s & the KEF 203 version 1 SP 3001F….but not sure what F stand for?
The SP numbers are just KEF's internal numbers that refer to speaker drivers, crossover networks, and assemblies. Means nothing to us unless we're replacing a component, then you want matching SP numbers.

Yeah, I get it. They got bought out by Dolby labs, lol. Those do look very interesting and I believe they're very nice speakers. I happen to own speakers that use true ribbon tweets as well, tho from a different company.

Just out of curiosity do you know the specs for those? Frequency range, impedance ect.? Sealed or ported? I'm assuming sealed and meant to be crossed over to a sub so a f3 of 80-60 hz? The description in the ad doesn't give us much to go by.
SLS was bought out by Ray Dolby of Dolby Labs. The planar ribbon tweeters are one of a kind. Designed, & built in house by SLS but all inventory and patents bought out by Dolby Labs then used in there commercial line of speakers offered to movie theaters and amphitheaters representing the Dolby surround sound technology. Knowing that it pretty much makes it the pinnacle of a surround sound system speakers. I'm the owner of that SLS ad and just found this out with a couple hours of research. I think the same speakers used in a different Dolby designed speaker box sells or sold for around $,4000-$5,000 per speaker.

Seriously, I have no life.
Anyone try these supposedly a ribbon speakers?
SAMTRONIC Passive Bookshelf Speakers https://a.co/d/iOYSKKD
Looking at the crossover, I suspect they are very bad news.

It looks like a second order low pass to the woofer and a first order high pass to the tweeter. It is a really bad idea to drive a ribbon driver with a first order filter as the cut off is only 6 db. per octave. Distortion of ribbons usually goes off the clock at the lower end of the band with, so they generally require higher order filters.

Likely that is an amateur hour design.
