The New "Free Speech" on Twitter

Speaking of Twitter. There is one very recent event that I find both ironic and amusing in the extreme.
Andrew Tate (ex-kickboxer, misogynist, turned into a shady businessman in Romania, recently unbanned by muskbro) got into Twitter "fight" with non-others than Gretta Thunberg.
His latest response includes a video of himself eventually bringing a pizza box into view.
The problem here is you can see the pizza store name and number. Guess who came in knocking shortly after?
If you guessed, Romanian Police on charges of Rape, Gang activity, and human trafficking, you guessed correctly.

The best part is Greta's final retort. I promise it's worth it.

If this is not the best news to end this year, I don't know what it could be.

I saw this and it was glorious. For someone whose grifting centres around his self-proclaimed "Alpha male" status, his response to Greta was decidedly....Beta. To be fair, she had him dead and buried, so the odds of mounting a credible comeback were decidedly poor.

It looks like the pizza box didn't have anything to do with it.

>>>Ramona Bolla, a spokeswoman for the Directorate for the Investigation of Organized Crime and Terrorism, confirmed the charges. . . . Speculation online centered on whether a distinctive pizza box featured in one of Mr. Tate’s tweets to Ms. Thunberg had helped lead the authorities to him, but Ms. Bolla told The New York Times on Friday that that was not the case.<<<

https://www.nytimes.com/2022/12/30/world/europe/andrew-tate-romania-arrest.html

Snopes rates the pizza box claim false.

He apparently posted a video earlier which gave away his general location.

>>>Earlier this week, Tate posted a video on Twitter of a mountainous region of Romania, the Eastern European country where he is reported to have lived for the last five years. . . . Bolla, from DIICOT, refuted widespread claims in the media that an address brandished on a pizza box that featured in a video posted by Andrew Tate on Twitter earlier this week led authorities to his arrest. She said the claims are “funny, but no.”<<<

As far as I can tell, the twitter spat with Thunberg may have been a coincidence.

@Mr._Clark thank you for setting the facts straight. Even if it's a bit less funny, it's still great timing, coincidental or not. As the cliche goes: it couldn't happen to a nicer person.

For those who (like me) enjoy savoring a little fine schadenfreude from time to time, it looks like Tate is about $3.9 million lighter in the wallet:

>>>BUCHAREST, Romania (AP) — Romanian authorities descended on a compound near Bucharest on Saturday to tow away a fleet of luxury cars and other assets worth an estimated $3.9 million in the case investigating Andrew Tate, the divisive social media personality who is detained in the country on charges of human trafficking. . . .

Tate, 36, a British-U.S. citizen who has 4.5 million followers on Twitter, was arrested on Dec. 29 in Bucharest along with his brother Tristan and two Romanian women on charges of being part of an organized crime group, human trafficking and rape. . . .

The agency said victims were lured by pretenses of love, and later intimidated, kept under surveillance and subjected to other control tactics while being coerced into performing in pornography.<<<

Anyone here still think Musk is a genius?
Elon Musk apologizes after mocking, questioning disability of Twitter employee | CBC News

I read the Twitter thread yesterday and Musk's display of ineptitude was breathtaking. Each succeeding tweet was a bigger self-own than the one before.

It's true that Elon Musk is not immune to making mistakes, and his recent actions on Twitter have been questionable, to say the least. However, it's important to recognize that he has also achieved incredible success as a business leader and entrepreneur. Musk has demonstrated a rare ability to turn ambitious ideas into reality, from revolutionizing the electric car industry to launching reusable rockets into space.
For those interested in studying management and leadership, there are plenty of resources available. One useful website is https://happyessays.com/free-essays/management/, which offers a wide range of free essays on topics such as leadership styles, organizational behavior, and strategic planning. These resources can provide valuable insights into the principles of effective management, and how they can be applied in a variety of settings. In conclusion, while Elon Musk may have his flaws, his accomplishments speak for themselves. As a leader, he has shown the importance of bold vision, perseverance, and a willingness to take risks.
I agree, too often he finds himself in such situations as for a man of genius.

Unlikely, but the purpose is to intimidate other people not part of the lawsuit to make them practice self-censure.
Even if I wasn't part of the lawsuit, how would it entice me to advertise on Twitter (I refuse to call it "X")?

It won't entice most companies to advertise at all, I believe, and make them even more wary to buy more advertisements. It's a bit dumb, to be honest.

It looks like a move forced by desperation. While I still frequent Twitter, as there are still people and organizations that I follow, I block all ads as they pop up. Doesn't do much though, because many of the same ads pop up repeatedly after blocking.

I don't have an account on Xitter and I don't think I ever had one (perhaps registered many years ago but not used), so I don't see ads either when using an adblocker. :D

But ad income was much higher, until Felon Musk bought Twitter, so many users watch ads still.

The remaining advertisers are primarily pissant nobodies now.
