What is the Best Coffee Maker with a Thermal Carafe?

Not saying it is a problem, the glass is actually much better than a plastic bin. The grind itself creates some of the static and that is transferred into whatever is catching the coffee. Very familiar with Rain-X. If you've ever used it on your cars, you'll feel a bit tingly on your hands, similar to rubbing alcohol. I would think this is something I don't want on my coffee

The alcohol (probably isopropanol)) in Rain-X is merely a solvent to let you apply the siliconizing stuff. Once it dries, follow the instructions on the bottle. I'd wash it with soap & water too, just to see if the water does bead up after one application. The alcohol solvent will be gone, and the inert coating on the glass will not come off for a long time.

It's just a suggestion that I've not tried. Suit yourself.

Here is what I know. I use a Keurig 1 cup coffee maker. I buy Tim Hortons Original Blend, medium roast ground coffee, at Target. I have an under the kitchen sink, a cold tap water filter, using a Pentair Carbon Filter Cartridge, TSGAC-10. The filter is designed to reduce Chlorine Taste and Odor and reduce Lime and Scale.

Our Kitchen Cold Tap water is the best tasting, is excellent for cooking, and makes the best tasting coffee. I also use a Thermos SS 10oz cup, for my daily coffee. There's NO metal taste. lol

Your coffee maker is from the Canadian division of Oster which, I assume, exists for the same reason other brands have divisions in other countries- reducing taxes & duties. Oster is owned by Sunbeam, is US-based and originated in Milwaukee.

Still using a Mr Coffee for my Sumatra beans. Not what anyone would call a 'connoiseur', but I really like Sumatra. I have had some from Guatamala, too- that had all sorts of interesting notes.

Are you still using the Mr Coffee product? You would definitely taste a better coffee with the OXO coffee maker which I ordered this Sunday from Amazon. It is Gold-standard coffee certified by the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA). I expect to receive it next Monday. I will post my opinion with regard to its performance shortly in due course.

I've been with Moccamaster for over 14 years. Product service, excellent in my book. You can pretty much get replacement parts and Moccamaster USA will repair your brewer even after the 5-year warranty period has ended, for a minimal fee (usually about $59) their Oregon facility.

I had considered getting a Moccamaster brewer several years ago, but since I have a Breville grinder which makes it more convenient to use basket type paper filters, I had to rule it out of the list of possible purchases.

The moccamaster uses basket type paper filters, been uses them since I had my first machine. They even sell their own paper basket filters..

It was not so obvious to me when I viewed their ads. Anyways, I now have the OXO brewer which I'm beginning to like as I experiment with various grind sizes. But when it fails within a period of time, I might consider buying the Moccamaster if the price seems affordable then.

We have always liked the glass why, we just like it as the hotplate temperature stays within the range of 175°F - 185°F . And by the time we are each finished with our two cups well its gone. Plus she drinks decaf and I go lower acidic so 4-6 mins a brew is easy at the correct temp 196-205.
