I’ve had Samsung plasma and LED. No more. Their picture processing is s#%t no matter the panel type. No Dolby Vision support is a deal breaker for sure. HDR10+ content is not widespread. HDR10 does still look good. But, when I upgraded my disc player to a Dolby Vision supporting player, the difference from HDR10 to Dolby Vision was more than a little drastic and some movies suddenly came to life. This is also the case for some games.
DTS audio support is necessary only if one must connect devices directly to the TV for one reason or another and those LG TVs that do not support it can pass the audio over to the receiving end as multichannel PCM. But, DTS:X metadata is lost when doing so.
The ATSC3.0 tuner is not a deal breaker. Few are broadcasting in ATSC3.0 and most of them are doing it in 1080p with only a small fraction doing it in 4K. If streaming or cable/sat is used for TV, the ATSC3.0 tuner for OTA isn’t necessary unless you want broadcasters personalizing adds for OTA like they do for everything else. That is its main purpose.
The LG evo panels were designed for longevity more than additional picture quality. If one plans to leave the TV on for many hours a day, they want it to last a long time. If the B3 feature set is sufficient for some, they can save some money buying it if the TV isn’t going to be on for many hours a day. I think the better picture processing, additional HDMI 2.1 ports and evo panel justify the cost of the C3.
There are no OLED TVs with bad images. Some are better in some ways than others. One must balance budget with TV size and feature set for their own use case. For this particular case, I think the LG C3 65” TV is the way for
@ryanosaur to go. But, that may not be the case for somebody else. Oh, and you can Screen Mirror directly to the C3 from an Apple device.
