Not strictly AV, but I'm looking at shelf solutions for my albums. They're currently on metal shelving in the basement, but I want to put them on nicer shelves upstairs. I'm wondering what other audiophiles are doing to store the albums. I'm not finding anything, so far, that looks good. I don't really want to go the industrial route, unless that's my only option.

-thanks.

If I was in the market I’d probably go with IKEA Kallax

I store most of mine in cardboard storage boxes down in the basement these days (but alphabetically organized). Built a half-box/rack sort of thing from some wood I had on hand, holds maybe 100 or so of my favorites, to sit on the floor near the tt upstairs....probably wouldn't score well on the WAF scale ;)

Used to use several large modules stacked up like shelving when I had the whole collection in the main room, made of some sort of fiberboard I picked up at I think a home improvement type place back in the early 80s. Those fell apart on the last move 10 years ago, tho. Heavy suckers, especially loaded up with vinyl....

I concur with phillip & Swerd, good choices !

As for storing Lp's in the basement, one of the worst places. High humidity = mold potential, never good.

Mine are in a large entertainment center which could probably hold 300 lps. I only have about 100 or so and they aren't in the basement. Just keep them stored vertically.

Not all basements are that way....

for sure, so long as humidity is kept in check.

simple rule(for those of us old enough to remember), store your Lp's like you would your precious slide photography !

In Fla it would be a bad choice, but we have little to NO basements and forget about attics and garages , so that leaves paying for AC storage, or move some of the wifes stuff out of a room or closet ( see how that works ) .

Slide photography and vinyl? Just how old are you? :)

LOL, while my Lp collection is respectable, 1500 (+ or - 100) my slide collection is sizable, 5000 plus. I inherited my Grandfathers railroad photography that dates back to the beginning of Kodachrome, I believe late 30's ?
