About to undergo a home remodel while anticipating a dedicated home theater space. It can become quite the rabbit hole so I’d like to see what opinions are out there, and hopefully narrow some choices. Space will be 21Lx15Wx11H.
Current plan: Acoustically transparent screen with speakers behind it. 7.2.4 system
Projector: (likely Sony family)
Receiver: Yamaha Aventage RX-A8A
Subwoofer (2): PSA TV1813
Speakers: Klipsch THX ceiling speakers with Klipsch speakers
I’d love to hear opinions/ideas/suggestions!

Brand new projects like this are always exciting. There are many on this forum that have mind boggling systems.
I have seen some systems here and watched their growth and development with abject jealousy.
@TLS Guy probably has the most accessible photos for his systems. Beyond reproach I assure you.
Hit him with a message or search out one of his posts. I believe he has a photo link to his stuff in h is trailer.
There are others here I can't remember by name that have some stunners

EVERYONE has advice. Especially how to spend your money. It's part of the fun of replying

Well, why the Sony family for projector? Don't think I've seen that brand much on the most recommended type posts....but am not a projector guy myself (just not the suitable room for such, no dedicated theater room); I'd listen to what @BMXTRIX would have to say on projectors here, tho.

Why Klipsch speakers? Which?

You own all the specified gear already or ? Seating will be what/where particularly?

I’ve owned Sony TVs for years and I’ve found their video quality to always be top notch. I would think that it would carry over into their projectors.

I’m stuck on speakers. I remember the first time hitting up the cinema after they installed the Dolby Atmos system for the first Hobbit. A Dolby rep was there introducing it, the crowd chuckled and someone yelled from the rear, “Yeah, guy, but are we going to FEEL it?” Dolby guy admitted he might be biased and said yes. Holy hell, we felt that fire whipping around us and I’d never been so impressed. As far as the Klipsch speakers, I feel like I’ve run into a dead end and can’t seem to find other systems with specific height speakers like their THX-5002-S.
I don’t own any of the gear yet, but my love for Yamaha comes from the receiver I first owned. Loved it.

Seating: Two rows, back on a riser, probably 4 across.

A tv and projector aren't the same expertise perhaps, altho Sony is somewhat consistent, I maybe just don't have brand loyalty the way you do .... :).

Lots of speakers out there. I'm not a particular Klipsch fan myself, more JBL and others for me. PSA subs aren't the highest on my list (but I've gone diy for my last several anyways, but see more value elsewhere than PSA for brands). Height speakers can be from a variety of brands. Speakers don't necessarily need to be matched by brand, either. Mains are most important, the surrounds not so much. Altho with multich music might make that a bit different. Yamaha makes good avrs, but am a Denon fan mostly myself....these days I'd primarily consider Yamaha, Denon & Marantz before most others.....somewhat depends on room eq system you want and your budget, too.

Do you really need two rows of seating? How many people will use the cinema regularly?

Don't forget placement is important to have a great experience. Decide on screen size and distance and then figure out placements based on angles from the main Listening position.

I actually now suggest for the side surrounds to be at 100 degrees rather than the 90 degrees that most people tend to use.

Are you sure about klipsch speakers? Some people like their sound and some don't. I'm in the don't like their sound camp as it's a bit bright and harsh. I went with polk reserve range and can suggest considering those speakers.

For some reason, other family members think they’ll be in there. Placement will only be the main consideration for the main seat (me).

Not sure about the Klipsch. Last time I bought speakers were for my stereo and they were Infinity. Not the first time I’ve seen the Polk suggestion.

In a recent shootout, where Sony went head-to-head against JVC, a reviewer said that he would take the cheapest, lamp-based JVC, over ANY of the Sony models which were presented.

If budget allows for a Sony, then that money is better spent on a JVC. This doesn't mean that Sony isn't good, it is. But, JVC has a much better long term history in the projector world. Especially up against Sony.

I am not sure what research you have done, or what you've listened to, but the use of Klipsch, and the subwoofer choice are certainly variables you can change at any point. Getting a full featured AV receiver from Yamaha, Denon, or Marantz is solid. They all make suitable products, but you are at or near their top of the line if you want full 7.2.4 support. In fairness, I'm a huge fan of Yamaha, but you shouldn't ignore the other two major players in Denon & Marantz.

There seems to be a lot of "I liked this in the past, therefore it must be the best." - and this is a good way to get yourself in trouble.

I’m open to anything. It’s just the past is the only thing I have to reference for what I know what worked well. I have enjoyed this forum very much because it informs me of far more options than any store clerk or rep will tell me.

As mentioned, the effects speakers don't have to be the same brand as the mains. Concentrate your speaker budget on the front 3, where most of the movie and music content comes from. Klipsch speakers have their own character and I would highly recommend that you try and get out to some stores to compare brands. You might find that JBL, Paradigm or Polk, for example, are more to your liking. Or maybe you'll stick with Klipsch after all. :) If you know what brands are available in your area, forum members could suggest some models to check out, unless you're in an area where you need to order based on recommendations.

So, the demolition has begun, but I'm still probably at least close to a year before getting to the theater room portion of the remodel. I did recently go to a sound studio where I finally heard some speakers that did blow me away. They had a Dolby Atmos room set up with PMC speakers. I found the studio because they were the only ones listed for Focal speakers close to me and Focal had some specific Atmos ceiling speakers. The room was properly sound treated and the PMC's just blew me away. I will be amending my system set up with those speakers in mind, but I can't find much online about them. British company, but not many reviews or videos.

Yeah I’ve never heard of that brand , I’m in an Audio blackout zone only bestbuy magnolia within 30miles in Akron far away .
Lucky it sounds like you have a lot of time to research multiple brands , tons of threads on best Atmos speakers (something I can’t do not my house no so I got construction skills to install them , and don’t have Atmos avr ) . Plus I don’t really have any Atmos Audio sources , rsl is another good brand to consider . Especially for Atmos . I don’t think they were around when I got into Audio.
