Help with subwoofer connection

I bet you're right, it probably has something to do with me running HDMI. I use HDMI into the receiver from my PS4 and then HDMI out to my monitor via HDMI ARC

I agree on the 6.5 "subwoofer". After messing with this a bit more today, I think everything is working fine. Its weird because that little 6.5 driver was real, I guess boomy would be the word. Had a very hollow resonating type bass. But it would move air at a very rapid pace from the port. That little thing would move way more air than this new 10 does from its port. This new sub is very subtle I guess is how I would describe it. Like for instance if you're playing a game or watching a movie, you may not "hear" the new sub, but you can kind of feel it. I have the gain at about 50%. But you almost don't realize its working. But if you go and turn the gain to 0, its really obvious when its gone. Hard to describe, but you probably know what I'm saying. Hopefully that's how a good sub is SUPPOSED to compliment your AV setup. Maybe?

I am however going to have to reposition it I think. It backs to a wall, but right next to that wall is a hall way and most of my hard hitting bass when listening to music is technically behind the sub while standing in that hallway which means its not technically in the room where the AV equipment is.
Bass module might be a better description perhaps of a unit like that. The movement of air will differ from driver to port depending on frequency.....just the physics of how that works. Good subs and implementation do just complement, rather than create, extra sound. I can't imagine using a sub with less than a 12" driver myself (prefer my 18"s). YMMV :)

No, whats that?

Also, I have two subwoofer out. But separate pre outs I was trying to use.
I have a habit of trying to decipher screen names. I see yours as “black 2000 SS”.

Sorry, can’t help it!

Sometimes you can run simultaneous analog outputs from sources to handle zone 2 issues....but generally drm gets in the way of using zones equally with digital content. I wouldn't play with gain on the sub particularly, rather set it once in the avr and then perhaps use the avr sub trim level for adjustments after calibration. Position can make a huge difference....try the sub crawl info here on AH lacking better measurement ways....

Oh, haha. I thought you were talking about something audio related. Yes, I'm an American muscle car guy. I ride dirt bikes also. I did have a 2000 black Camaro SS (I've had this screen name forever, just kept it). I also had a black '94 Z28 Camaro and I just sold a like new 2005 Pontiac GTO just last May with 45K on it. I have lots of hobbies. I'm OBVIOUSLY not near as in tune or knowledgeable about audio, but I do enjoy messing with it. I'm actually considering making a subwoofer in the future. I've got an old Rockford Fosgate 10 laying in a closet and I know how to do some wood work so I thought what the heck, I may try and build one and see what happens.

If you have the t/s parameters for the fosgate, might work out if you model it with winisd or bassboxpro or similar software....

Yeah, I think I used bassboxpro. I had some measurements at one time. I think I had it like 1.5 cubic feet. I figure that with a 100 or 150w plate amp might sound pretty good. We'll see

More about projected output at higher levels than if it will work at a nominal value....
