It’s probably a little overkill at 17lbs, but you already have the plan. So it definitely won’t hurt. Pretty good idea actually. I’m guessing the third point will be just below the terminal box?
Just above, outside corners.
Overkill… yes and no? ;)
I’ve hung 15# speakers at a smaller angle, but with the bracket centered. This thing, with the bracket at the far end, and angled at around 45°… I get a little nervous.

Yours were more upright though? Lean them over at 45° or so!
;)
They also had a tilt on them a good bracket if you use a lot of screws you'd be suprised how sturdy they can be. You just gotta be willing to put screws in them tho.

But you can never be too safe

(I really want to get the pieces prepared, then have them anodized black. That would be sexy AF. Of course, nobody will see them. Of course, I will know. Do you think anodized braces will improve the sound? Extension? Eliminate potential port noise? Hmmm...)

(Sorry, just had to get that out of my system.)

(Def not going to anodize them. Just to be clear.)

(But sexy... :p )

Whoah easy there tiger. It's a slippery slope your on. Just ask yourself how did I end up with my affinity for ports? It always starts small. It's progressive bro it's progressive. I don't want you to endure my fate :D

How ironic, just jumped on the JBL sale and got several 590's, 580's and 4 sets of 530's to test. I'm looking to mount the 530's as atmos as well. I haven't fully seen the mounts here, but if they don't sell mounts, what about a using wood threaded inserts along with like a C/U clamp used by outdoor speakers to mount these to the ceilings? With a decent size lag screw and washers seems like it would give a full range of adjustment. I haven't gotten my 530's but center up the side holes, make sure not to drill into a woofer or component, use some silicone around the threads? I'm hoping though there is a decent mount out there though like there is for wall mounting.

I would be very careful if you try that route. The crossover is mounted on one side. Also, the shape of the speaker may create a challenge.
If budget is generous, you can get some nice ceiling mount gear with VESA mounts. If Wall mounting, you may do the same with articulated arms for monitors. ;)
