I need help with home theater questions

Hello everyone, just finishing up with my home build and I'm getting ready to start on my theater room, my wife is not to enthusiastic about bulky speakers so I'm pretty sure I'm going to end up going in walls, I have narrowed my speaker of choice to be either Focal or either Klipsch 7.1.4, Focal 300 series or Klipsch Reference Premier. I also love music so I want the best of both worlds, can you please help?

Monolith items from Monoprice have just been killing it for high quality, high value audio gear. I'll bet their in wall options are no different.

That's a great sub, but like I said the Monolith gear is really good stuff too, and great value. They have a powerful 15" ported sub on sale right now that can handle anything the PB3000 can and more.

They have very good, live, fast responding customer support too. Once you're in their ecosystem its hard to get out! (in a good way)

Sure, and welcome to Audioholics! I don't know how you feel about dual subs, but you could be better off perfomance-wise with a pair of smaller subs instead of one big one. Like a pair of PB or PC2000s or two Monolith M-12s. How big is your room? Can you accommodate a second subwoofer? The PC2000 has a little bit smaller footprint than a box cabinet. It's not so much for loudness as it is for helping you achieve a more linear bass response over a bigger area.

Just another perspective. Single subs can work fine with careful placement, but two are almost always better over a larger area than one.

My room is like 16 x 25 and I thought about dual subs and I still might, definitely not out of the question

I think we can be more impactful advising on speaker placement, before decisions on OEM are made. @Redjay please up a diagram with dimensions and seating locations with the preferred seat highlighted. Lots of good gear out there.

Still doing some research guys, thank you all, I’ve been looking at Kef lately, any advice on Kef?

The Focals, Klipsch and KEFs will all sound different. The problem is that not many stores demo in-wall speakers. I would recommend finding the closest bookshelf or small floorstander that matches the in-walls you like and base your decision on that. Maybe listen to some Focal Chora or Aria speakers, Klipsch Reference and KEF R series. Had a quick look and if you want in-walls KEF does make a THX certified in-wall around the same price as the Focals. Either would likely sound very good but your preference might depend upon the style of music you listen to.

Thanks, my wife is starting to come around with floor standing speakers and that’s when I started doing research on the Kefs, I was looking at the Q 750 and Q 950 and the THX certified in walls for surrounds and back speakers, as for the subwoofer I have started to look closely at the Monolith 15 or dual 12s

Hey, now's the time. They recently raised their prices then put them "on sale", so prices aren't bad right now. I would say dual 12s before a single 15.
