When Focal launched Bathys powered ANC headphones back in 2022 it was probably only a matter of time before it started using the same smaller, more easily mass produced chassis for a line of passive headphones. Focal's high-end headphones always had a distinctively bulky look and feel. Where other headphone brands were trimming size and using more plastic for lighter weight, Focal headphones were built with metal and weigh almost one full pound, relatively heavy for headphones using dynamic drivers.
That all changed in 2024 with the launch of Azurys, closed-back and Hadenys open-back headphones. Smaller size, swivel ear-cups for easy storage. Focal's newest line of passive headphones using Bathys' chassis seems like a great way to bring Focal to a broader audience.
Can Focal's new smaller headphones pull off similar levels of sound quality the brand is known for?
