I had a little trouble with my Music Sense setting waking up the Subs, so I add the splitter at the Sub In in increase the signal strength the Plate Amp was receiving.
Some claim this increases Sub Output as well, but when I ran Audyssey again, I did not have to adjust any settings because of the Splitter
The cables are basic RG6 Coaxial which defines an 18AWG conductor (Solid core Copper, here), shielding (dual), and a beefier insulation.
They are a little stiff, but other than that, they work great and do not cost an unreasonable amount.
Other Cables are often thinner Conductor or Copper-Clad Aluminum or even Copper-Clad Steel.
For a very short run, less than 10', it definitely does not matter. Getting longer runs and close to power cables can start to be a concern. So I just shopped smart and bought what I felt was the best solution in my system.
